I think it would be a terrible idea to hire Brown and he won't be considered. Yes he was the greatest to ever play at Siena but that doesn't make him a good head coach at the D1 level. Plus if you had to fire him how bad would that be? You might have your best player at odds with the school forever. No win situation. On another note - according to Papi the Brown days, Bennerman days, Moore days are all aberrations, we shouldn’t expect a program like that again. Haha! All luck according to him. Those guys just showed up in Siena's locker room one day.

You are not going to get a head coach under market value!!! Re: Brown Exactly. Eight years of being irrelevant, program’s in complete disarray, fans bailing in never before seen numbers .... errrrr not the time to cheap out on a hire.

Deane gave his last scholarship to a D-2 big kid and Tim had to talk him out of taking it back to sign Brown late. Changed everything. Always helps having great assistants.

Not the time to hire an undermarket value HC?
Again, for like the 5th time, it is only if you can't afford to fire Rex and replace him with a market value coach.
Are you people crazy?
Your telling me that if you can't afford a fair market value HC here next year, you would rather have Rex here next year than Marc Brown?
You are all off your rockers if that is the case.
Plain and simple, if Rex is here next year, this program falls apart that much more; from a recruiting perspective, a reputation perspective, a wins and losses perspective, and finally, a financial perspective.
If Marc Brown is here next year this program has hope....and where there is hope comes opportunity, and where there's opportunity, there can be success.
If you can afford to pay two market value coaches at the same time, then you have to go that route.
If you don't go the under market value path with someone like a Marc Brown vs. doing nothing and sticking with Rex it will only further damage the program.

I'd much rather have Cliff Warren than Marc Brown.... You mean the guy with a 126-150 career record in a lesser conference? Why? This Marc Brown stuff is a bad idea. Siena only has a few basketball heroes. Let Marc Brown stay in the sunset.

Successful at his current job, great contacts and a pedigree that only improves with age.

We need some young energy. He wouldn't stay long if he did well though. You're talking 2 or 3 and then out...which is fine. There could be better options though too.

Maybe it is misplaced, but I don't see a Beilein being as mercenary as a Pitino. You knew if the Saints hired young Pitino, they would have been "Louis Orr'd" if he saw any success at all. I, too, like younger. I also like guys who have been head coaches before and have seen success. Just my 2 cents and, at this point, there is no opening.
