Hypothetical, what if JP turns it around will the deserters return? A lot of the hardcore season ticket holders won't come back until Jimmy is gone but the Manhattan game was proof that Siena games are still an event and a Friday night game with decent weather can sell 7,000 tickets. Those casual fans and the students that came out won't care who the coach is as long as they are winning. And winning would even make it tough for the most disgruntled fans to stay away.

Hypothetical, what if JP turns it around will the deserters return? look, he couldn't do it with the star class he had last yr..........no matter who he brings in as a group, they aren't going to be better than them (certainly not in yr 1, and he doesn't have enough rope to be allowed 4 yrs to develop a new crop).......plus he hasn't done it in 14 yrs as a coach............he got significant transfers that made a difference at Loyola, YES, but recruiting them, answer is no.........IF he stays, he is a dead man walking, they won't sniff .500 next yr, no way ............so why bother keeping him..........really just to save a buck, horrible............analogy, let's allow a CEO to continue to run a company into the ground, wrong, you make the move to cut your losses hopefully as soon as possible.................

Far too long. I am thinking 2020-2021 because of the buyout number. By that time the TUC will decide not to renew and the team will be playing back at the ARC. Does anyone know for sure when Patsos' current contract expires?

I think Siena is in a tough spot with JP. If they do not fire him this year and let him coach next year, what happens if (I know it is a BIG if) he has a good season next year? Do you fire him then? Can you fire him following a good season? Do you extend him? I can't imagine that. Only reasonable outcome that I see is dismissing him at the end of the season. Start fresh and move on. The Patsos Experiment is a failure. Why continue? Unfortunately I actually think that is the administration's dream scenario. Use injuries as an excuse for this season, get picked to finish 9th or 10th next season, overachieve and wind up in 5th, and then use that as an excuse to give him one more year and avoid having to eat any dead money. I'm done with this program for good if that happens. And I don't think I'll be back when Patsos does eventually get fired.

By 'done it' you mean win a title. There may be a difference in the standards of success between the fanbase and the administration. Top 5's probably hold quite a bit of weight. Siena has 3 top 5s in 5 years under Jimmy. It will come down to $$$ and this recruiting class...and I think next year is when the decision is made and not this year. MTS can cry all he wants but the administration doesn't give a flying fig what he says. They'll only listen to $$$'s.

Well you're right they only listen to $$$ and guess what outside of the Manhattan game - TUC has been a ghost-town all year. And for Papi get real - Penn is a nice player - the record would be the same with or without him - this team STINKS and the coach is a complete FOOL. Michael Haddix missed most of Lanier's last year and it wasn't enough to save him and Haddix was a top player. Injuries happen....losers make excuses. You deal with it. If Patsos is back - Siena has spoken that they have officially decided to downgrade the program. Period. Shove those he finished in the top 5 - 3 times up your ass!

Sounding like MTS here, but in some ways the damage has been done. Good crowd against Manhattan but otherwise the crowds have been pathetic this season. The team plays a terrible brand of basketball, doesn’t win, and has a coach that no fan really likes or believes in to bring Siena MAAC titles. Money is obviously a tough thing to swallow, but I don’t think it would be our athletic department paying the majority of the buyout. Boosters could and should (and probably will) step up to the plate for much of that. Program needs a hard reset and even a .500 year next year with low expectations probably doesn’t create any excitement in this town. If we had a new coach and were picked 10th, then came in 5th, then there’s a vision and something to build for.

They didn't 'sell' 7K tickets- no way to know how many were gratis and the 5 dollar deal isn't going to cover expenses. Yes they need casual fan but the hard core supporters are also tightening up wallet with donations and it will show soon. Casual fans also don't buy 'team gear' another down line profit. This program will NOT win with this regime at the helm. Didn't happen at Loyola, not going to happen here. Too many coaches in this league that are out of the stone age both with recruiting, methodology and in game coaching approach. I would consider returning when the coaching carousel spins and JP is replaced...clean sweep. Then, and only then, will we see a refreshing brand of basketball up and down the court, crazy substitutions and the kids working on development instead of worrying about getting recruited over.

The starting point guard has missed the past two contests due to a stress injury that involves a cyst in his heel. With him out for the season following surgery, the likes of Kenny Wormley, Ryan Oliver and Kinnon LaRose may see expanded roles.
This was written on a site that obviously doesn't follow mid-majors closely.......too bad that Wormley and LaRose were RUN OFF... but hey let's give the idiot a pass for injuries. Pathetic!

KK, I can only add this..........when Fran came aboard, and I have this on very good word, that it was expressed to him that the expectations is that they would be in the Top 4 of the league every yr, which means vying for the league Championship as well...........now, whether they slipped 1 spot to Top 5 is questionable at best, but I would not believe that to be the case............it translates that being in 4th is a team MORE likely to get to the semi-finals on Sunday of the tournament, 5th while not that far from 4th, in most cases doesn't get you in that spot..............take that for what its' worth...............
