Siena DID only have 2 days rest. Jimmy's teams typically struggle a bit on short turnarounds.

Let's not forget too that Saints had 62 points with 7:43 to go and went cold. Good ball movement stopped and they looked out of sorts. Young teams sometimes have a hard time putting teams away. Hopefully they took something from this game.

Siena has just 2 more 2 day turnarounds this season..and both are coming up in this next stretch...and those teams will be coming off 2 day turnarounds too...
Canisius at home Manhattan on the road
Siena gets to play the following 2 day turnaround teams on more rest:
Vs. Manhattan Vs. Iona Vs. Monmouth At. St. Peters
So we have that going for us at least.

I'm thinking off all the games though not just tonight. They are 319th in points allowed, 310th in assists per game, 270th in points per game, rebounds is the best stat tied for 178th. Those numbers make for a long season. The MAAC isn't as bad as people think. Yes a lot of young teams but they are coming together and a few played just as tough a schedule as Siena. I hope I'm wrong and they win 12 or 13 but I'm thinking more like 7-9 MAAC wins is realistic.

Monmouth 13th Iona 69th Siena 96th

Give this game a B. Played well at times after the slow start (which I partially attribute to the lack of time to prep for that 1-3-1 extended zone) then got rolling and were in control the rest of the way. Nico was awesome tonight, efficient and very energetic. Penn continues to impress, and we did a very good job moving the ball (though thought at times we were a bit too unselfish and made one pass too many). Floor spacing was good at times, bad at others, but we are learning there. Thought Prince played a really solid game, he passed out of the post much more willingly than he has been and got into good positions down low. On to Marist, they always play us tough in their building.

why are we complaining about 2 day rest. Did I miss something, kids playing since June, they're 19-21. Seems if they are getting that tired its rotation challenge and conditioning scenario, both involve the staff.
Good game tonight, not the best or worse. Again to many shots with the clock winding down.
Find a line up and stay with it. Seems the 4 guard works the best for this group, oh but the staff doesn't get it force a square peg in round hole.

Team flew home yesterday morning with a layover. Had 1 practice last night and then game day again after a 40 minute war. That’s not easy to turn around from physically but perhaps more importantly mentally.

The 2 game turnaround has been a thing for Jimmy's teams since he's been at Siena. His teams tend to struggle when at a rest deficit vs. opponents...like tonight. It could be why the threes weren't falling and why they had trouble scoring late...tired legs. They won't be at a rest deficit in any remaining games.

Glad for the W, but this was one of the team's "down" games, overall, in my opinion. Nico played well, scoring a bunch and being very disruptive on defense. Horn played OK, but his stroke on the two three point attempts did not look anything like the stroke in evidence against Memphis - still hasn't settled in at home in the face of a whole lot of fan expectations. Hope he can break out of that mental block at home.
I am really impressed by Penn - probably our second best player at this point. Tough kid, too.
I feel like we actually have great depth at point behind him, at least for MAAC level play. Richard, Smithen and even Horn can function well, at least for stretches...against MAAC teams
KK is really correct about the small lineup - the team plays much better without the two bigs out there at the same time.

Penn is our best player so far & by far the most consistent night in night out

Nico may be a little nutty, but he's clearly our best player. We don't have him tonight we get beat. Penn played okay, and I like him. Rest of the team was bad. Fisher is awful in the middle of the zone. Has no idea what's he's doing. He's way too low, needs to be a outside charge circle. HC got the ball in the middle at will. No resistance. Love the way the kids moved the ball tonight. Shivers another clunker, Horn back to earth.

Problem with Nico is his consistency he comes out cold and it’s crap shoot city, he more often than not goes off the rails under those circumstances. Is he out most talented and athletic yes but not the most consistent. What I like about Penn specially for a frosh he plays steady. We have Penn Nico Oduro and it plummets from there, not sold on Horn.

Penn is our best player so far & by far the most consistent night in night out This is not a crazy notion - he does not currently have the ability to take over a game in the way that Nico can, but he is very reliably performing at a high level for a freshman PG, and is less likely to be turned sideways by big emotional swings. Still love Nico - still think he is best player on the team because of that ability to win a game virtually single handedly.

Since I am out of the region for most of the season, I got to experience the new atrium- beautiful facility. Once the TUC renovates suites, scoreboards, etc- it will be a good facility for hopefully many years ahead.
Anyway, the game tonight. Yeah Nico had a good day. Still some dumb turnovers for sure.
Happy Holidays to all!
Next game: @ Marist, Friday December 29th, 7 pm, free to watch on ESPN3.
