If Siena wants to rise back to being relevent again on a national stage, they have to start having better shots at winning recruiting battles against schools from higher conferences such as the A-10 and even lightly regarded power conference schools who may not be geographically close to a recruits family. The best way to win recruiting battles for players who may be able to play at higher levels is 1) legitimate opportunities of immediate playing time and 2) playing at least 4 to 5 games per year at Power Conference schools who these recruits want to compete against. As many as possible of their non conference away games must be at Power Conference schools. I disagree with the last part. Once you play all your away games at power conference teams (4 to 5 is a lot) you set yourself up for a perennial losing record. Hard to get any momentum like that. Again, low major programs do this, and not for recruits. They do it to fund their sports programs. A better solution would be to try to gain entry into neutral tourneys with power conference teams. Tough to do but with a hard working staff it can be done. I agree (if by Power conferences we are talking the top 5 confs). 4 to 5 is a LOT certainly for our foreseeable future. Two at the most, but get some at the middle conferences (rated 6- 16) and hopefully several of them at home. Make inroads with them first.

Playing 4 or 5 games against the lower tier Power 5's such as the Vanderbilts, Indiana's, Alabama's, Northwestern's Georgia Tech's, Wake Forest's, etc... would be competitive games and not necessarily all losses.
Yes, I know this past year some of these programs may not have been lower tier but over the last 10 years you would never talk about any of these teams when you talk about college basketball powerhouses.

I’m all for scheduling up when you have a chance to win it. I’ll be disappointed with weak OOC’s in years 2-4. But year 1, I prefer a lighter schedule with some home games that are very winnable. Need to build some confidence, momentum, and buzz around the program, and losing close games to good teams doesn’t do that.
Side note: Bucknell released their OOC this morning and we are not on it, so that series is over.

I was satisfied overall with the schedule the past few years—- just didn’t win enough games.

Jamion and Nathan Davis are close friends, dating back to their days on the Bucknell coaching staff a decade ago, and they have stated they don't like the idea of playing each other. What is very possible, however, is that the two teams may meet in a preseason scrimmage.

As of yesterday, we still need three home games to complete the schedule and provide the season ticket holders with fourteen home games (nine MAAC games plus Lehigh and Charleston and three TBA).
It appears highly unlikely that one of them will be Albany.

Heard Ali on radio ... said women’s schedule is already set for this year & she had only 2 games open following year ... hoping to fill one w Albany ... said things could change but would come only from Siena administration ... appears Albany gets to hold onto cup awhile longer

College of Charleston’s NC schedule release has us hosting them on December 18th. That’s a Tuesday night. This is the return game from last season’s opener.
CofC brings back 3 starters from an NCAA Tournament team. They’ll be a tough test for us.

I think coach should try and get cuse on the calendar every few years. Gives or fans a chance to see siena play a great team as it is only a two hour drive.

The absolute best we can hope for is a 2 for 1. It's cuse and boeheim did not care to travel to the TUC while Fran was the coach. Definitely would like to see the remaining games set up with quality mid majors or start a series with a lower P7 team

Didn't Monmouth schedule the following in 2015-2016: Beat UCLA, Notre Dame, USC, Georgetown, Rutgers, Lost to USC and Dayton. All on the road or neutral site. I think going 5-2 again, on the road or neutral, against power conference schools gets you better than an 8 win season, don't you? They got their first home game on December 13th that year. You want play with the big boys, play like a big boy, not a sissy. Telling a recruit "yeah, we play little sisters of the Poor, Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of Perpetual Motion... you know all schools we can beat, versus telling the same higher level recruit, we play 4 or 5 games a year against power conference teams where you can show your stuff..... which one gets you the recruit?

Three of those games were because they were the MAAC representative in the Old Spice Classic so that certainly helped with the difficult schedule.
