Great news: "This year’s class of incoming Siena freshmen is the most promising for head coach Jimmy Patsos since the one from his initial year at the school which included Lavon Long, Javion Ogunyemi and Marquis Wright."

I'm actually not at all concerned about our shooting. Penn and Horn are very good shooters, Nico inconsistent but can light it up, Degnan can stroke it, Richard might be the best shooter on the team but he may not play a ton. Even Shivers isn't as bad a shooter as some make him out to be. To me, we need either Kadeem or Bentley to establish themself off the bench as a guy who can defend and bring us energy off the bench. Shivers didnt miss a jumpshot yesterday. If it was your first time seeing the kids play, anyone would walk away thinking he's our best shooter. I'm praying practice results translate into game performance, and if it does, Shivers will blow all of you away. If Shivers really has improved that much with his jumper, it would make him a completely different player. The book on him out of HS was that he was crafty and tough at the rim and drew fouls...but was not a great shooter and somewhat mistake prone. He kept the mistakes down last year and that was the biggest and most pleasant surprise. I've also seen some essence of a tough midrange game on occasion. In spite of deferring to seniors Shivers still was on pace to attempt 100 FTs in 1,000 mins which wasn't a surprise. His stats indicated that would be a strength as attempted over 170 FTs in just 24 games in the stats on maxpreps...on pace for like 250 FTA over a fulls season (a similar rate to Manny Camper)...and a rate that typically would lead the MAAC. I hope to hell he's taken his game up a notch as we'll need to rely on the guards. Shooting in practice is different than shooting in games though. Ask Evan Fisher.

That's kind of like saying that Donald Trump is the best President we've had since Obama. Not much competition.

It gives a nice scouting report on each of the incoming players and what they can bring to the table. For the many on here who follow the ins and outs of the team religiously, this doesn't give a ton of information we don't already know. However, it'd be very useful to the casual fan looking to get excited about the upcoming season.

I think the guards will carry the team during the season and we have some that are flexible in what they can do i see upside from them all but we'll find out a little during this August trip hopefully

Article is fine. It’s a hype piece, trying to stir up interest for Siena basketball. As for how good the freshmen are- we will find out soon enough. Although for most part it’s an unheralded class, Jimmy has pretty much bet his coaching career on them. They better be able to play and play immediately or Jimmy will be looking for a new job next March
