It's not about wins and losses with me. It's not about getting to the sweet 16. It's not about moving up to a better league. It's about running a solid program that develops both academic and athletic minds. It's about not having drama off the court affect the game. It's about having players with a next man up attitude when someone goes down. How many have said it's been fun watching these kids for four years? Hope you enjoyed it because you aren't going to see a group of four seniors be together again for a bit. Hell you haven't even seen the same four suits in four years. And for me it's just simply about rooting for my favorite team. I don't have any criteria in order to root for my team. I just do.

I see the board instigators have already turned the thread from a discussion on the game to an attack on the fan base. Great job. That was probably me. Because I'm reading a good win, but ... . I don't need the "but" to still root for my favorite team. Others may need the "but" but I don't. Great blow out win Saints!!! Keep it going, but if you don't (for what ever reason) I'll still be there next year to cheer what ever admin, coach or players are still there.

In the long run not a big deal but let's face it when you are 14-16 in what was supposed to be a big season the optics of it are very very bad rubbing elbows in Maryland. I disagree with HJ - This is an important game today Siena doesn't want to be limping into the MAAC tournament. Every game matters in college basketball - only 31 regular season chances. Also Siena needs a win today and then to win the tournament to finish with an overall winning season. Damn, I knew Jimmy should have skipped that Maryland title reunion Game was meaningless at this point of the season. We knew our seed, our opponent before tip. Sorry, but these games are on the kids. They come to play, we'll be competitive with anyone.

For those that think Siena has nothing to play for today, Siena could get outright 4th in the maac with a win. LOL, "outright" 4th place. Who cares? Season has been a bust (pounded home out here all season by you) 4th, tied for 3rd, what does it all matter? We knew we played FF before our game tipped off. Kids showed a lot of heart in coming back from a early ten point deficit. We're fun to watch when we get it going. IF JO can just play "okay" we might have a shot at this next weekend.

So in your world a loss would have been just as good as a win??? I agree saints are playing well heading into the tourney.

No, but it wouldn't have changed a thing, in the only thing that matters at this point.....the MAAC tourney. Sat at 9:30 was in stone. Opponent was known at our tip. I hpe our staff was working on a FF gameplan at halftime today. We couldnt beat Marist at home, we dont deserve to play this weekend.

I think one of the keys to our recent winning ways was the T early in the second half of the Canisius game when it was alleged that our "coach" rained f'bombs in front of the scorer's table (and retired Bishop Howard Hubbard), adding another taboo adjective while going at a Griff's assistant. There has been a marked change in JP's on-bench demeanor since that game, more sitting and evident self-control, and, more importantly, a visible change in just about all of our player's attitudes on the floor. Haven't seen an in-your-face prolonged tongue lashing since, at least none jump out. Lavon's change was, to me, the most visible - he is so much more energized right out of the box and his play has been off the charts. Not so much head hanging. Subtle changes during timeouts with the team. Last night JP pulled Nico and Quis aside after a Nico highlight and power strut and it appeared JP calmly toned them both down. I think JP got a talking to after the Canisius ejection and it coincides with a much better stretch of play and team energy. Quis ran over to help Nico back after the long off the court stumble trying for a save and showed a teammate attitude that we haven't seen much this year. Time will tell as we go through our next X number of games but if the change is real, recognized as effective and long standing, a one more year return might not be as bad as many of us envision. Hope I'm right because I doubt he's gone this year and next year could be a torches and pitchforks year at the TUC.

You are certainly correct in terms of when we play Saturday night but I think it is a much more positive way to enter the tournament for the following reasons: Finishing 4th is better than 5th (top 4 finish reads better than mid-pack finish) No headlines/story lines/comments that Saints finish 5th, narrowly escaping PIG pen games Finishing with a strong win, made even better, with a solid result digging out of a 10 point hole Would think they will sit on the same bench giving more of a home court feel, no biggie but still a plus and they need them all, IMO Reinforced solid play in Monmouth game by a big win in a game they were supposed to win - not always an easy task This team needs EVERY positive reinforcement they can pull out of the ether - we are not deep and very fragile when things go south during a game, keeping things up beat must be a must-do attitude from the staff, including JP - strong messages may be needed but they should be crisp and short lived. Focus should be ENTIRELY on the Stags - Hawks ONLY come in the picture/discussion after the buzzer in a Siena win Saturday night.

Let the kids play, they know what they have to do to score. The tough part will be the attitude to keep them high mentally.

Did the game you watched involve sticks and a little black puck? Did you watch Friday in the paint posting up, kid was working hard. He was actually way more aggressive than JO. Had also had a nice move to the hoop to score as well. You think Fisher is productive because he's a crossing guard and miss a kid that looked pretty good today. Hum🤔 IMHO the same methodology used for having Nico come off the bench should be applied to JO. Have Friday start, doesn't hurt us to bad way JO is playing, lets face it he's not playing like 2016 Feb March. Perhaps helps JO mentally or light a fire under him. Poor kid is off , supposedly bothering him, so try something different. Oh yeah a coach should do that. Obviously hockeyguy only thinks someone is participating, adding value if they score. Hockeyguy, just watches the game and roots for Siena. I did not see anything that screamed "rookie of the year", or "our savior" from Sammy Friday, was all I was saying, I have nothing against the kid. I hope he drops 20 and pick up a step or two for next year, Siena is going to need him AND for Fisher to be a much improved player. Time will tell.

Kids played a great game yesterday and it was a fun game to watch (and relaxing too). Good game for the SENIORS to end their regular season careers on. I'm sure going to miss watching Brett pull down all those rebounds. On to the MAAC tourney and 3 more wins!!!

Again, great job. The third post on this thread turned a discussion about the Marist game into a JP trashing and then it continued. I guess you must have missed those or refuse to comment on why they turned this thread into a JP rant before the game even began because you agree with what they say? I think many or some of us are sick of every thread being turned into a rant about our head coach or how a player's development or lack there of was all JP's fault. So my response to Greenblood was because I, like many, see this all the time, in every thread and are sick of it. Can't a Marist thread be about the Marist game? The people you're criticizing posted in reaction to several earlier posts ranting about our coach.

Those that love the guy are entitled to their opinion just as those that can be more critical are entitled to theirs. The odd thing is that none, nada, zero posts that react to the negative views counter with any positives that support their views, rather they just attack the poster. Many similar examples in today's political arena but we aren't supposed to use them. Thankfully, the season is coming to an end in the next few weeks and we can all push reset and go forward with all the exciting positive Siena news that will likely greet us following our last loss! Can't wait, the suspense is killing me.....
