Let the season play out! There will be plenty of time to do post mortem analysis on what went right and wrong this year and how best to handle things going forward whenever the season ends. Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards Unfortunately there won't be as that's when the extensions are announced.

Who the hell were the 4 people that voted he shouldn't be fired? My god. I'd like to go work for them. Trust me, you could never work for me ... I'd have managed your miserable ass out the door years ago. Attitude is just as important as results and your attitude has always sucked. And, yes, I did vote to say he should not be fired. Of the 4 years he has been at Siena, this is the only truly disappointing. Year one can only be considered a success though revisionist history has kicked in and most out here have forgotten just how low expectations were for that team. Year 2 wasn't what I would have expected but losing Bisping was killer for that team. They were still dealing with a limited roster given the losses to upperclassman from Mitch's team. Year 3 was solid with 21 wins. This year has been up and down to be sure but as poor as they were in December, the Saints have been solid to good since. All that said, I am okay with evaluating the coach and his future at the end of the season. At this point, the full book on this season hasn't been written. I'd like to see where they finish up. I expect them to go 2-1 to finish the regular season to go to 12-8 in the MAAC and 15-16 overall and the 3 or 4 seed in maac. Subpar, sure. Fireable ... probably not especially if they win a game or two in the tournament. Just my 2 cents.

I didn't vote "not to fire him" because he's my favorite coach of all time or something just don't want to fire him without understanding how it'll impact the college and any buyout type expense. In other words, I don't have enough info on how it'll effect the college/costs/etc.. need more info about contract before I could vote yes.

Admire your passionate fan support. Certainly hope they make it to the sweet 16. I look at it this way, especially with the underachieving. Take the steps, make the MAAC final, win the MAAC championship, than win your first game. Take it one step at a time.

If they make the sweet 16 I imagine all will be forgiven and our coach will will receive a nice raise. What will happen if we win the national championship? The only question would be whether Michelle, a noted trump hater, turns down the invitation to the White House.

I'll say this, if they make the round of 32 he should get at least another year. There will be a drop-off next year but he's earned it if he wins a first round game. Just getting to the dance isn't enough IMO, given that the next year or two look to be rebuilding years. That's disappointing as he should have a full stable by now.

Let's be real people . . . if Patsos leads Siena to the NCAAs this year . . . 99% on this board will either be esthetic or in shock

I would say that if Siena gets to the NCAAs this year there is absolutely no way he is fired this year. From my perspective if Siena doesn't get to the NCAA's this year he will also not be fired at the end of this year.

and siena would be a 15 or 16 seed most likely. .500 team RPI of 140.
but i just don't see them winning 3 games in 3 days next weekend. would love it if it did happen, but nothing I have seen from this staff and players shows they are capable of the task. Hope I am proved wrong.

I'm ready to move on but let's be realistic if we win the MAAC tournament he's definitely not going anyplace unless he has a bunch of bodies buried under his house. Heck if we finish 12-8 and lose in the quarterfinals it's going to be tough to fire him. For Jimmy's sake and the program's sake most importantly I hope they can work something out. JP saves face and could potential make up the difference in money with a high-major assistant job or low-major HC job. His resume will still be attractive enough. Staying for one more lame duck year will serve nobody well. We all know he's not the long-term answer and next year likely will be a slow death watch until his termination. Learn from the Mitch situation and end it a year early rather than a year late especially if the financials work out.

The only coaches, if any, that would get fired if they got their team to the NCAA tournament would be one from one of the top 4 conferences in the country. To say if he doesn't win a first round game in the tourney he should be fired is a ridiculous comment given the MAAC in it's entire 32 year existence has only won five first round games in the tournament(excluding PIG games). Applying this standard, Saint Fran would be gone at Iowa.

If Patsos somehow comes in 2nd or even 3rd place, you can't let him go.
Siena already has a reputation as having a quick trigger with coaches. Firing a coach who has like the 2nd most MAAC wins over the last 6 years to only Cluess on a year we come in 2nd looks bad...whether it may have merit or not.

Love being a fan and being with fans talking about the woulda, coulda, shouldas and might bes, but lets be at least a little honest with ourselves - the ONLY way Siena wins the MAAC tourney is if Monmouth and Iona shoot themselves out of a game. That's it, the only way. Some will categorize me as a "Hater" but I love Siena!
