He seemingly also allowed Nico the time to heal up to the extent that would Allow him to return to form. And he did what was long term best for the player while under significant pressure to win by a rabid fan base many of whom are actively calling for his dismissal. Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards Allowed? His giant a$$ was so far in the frying pan it was smoldering after the Griffs debacle at the TU. Nico was a last ditch shot in the dark to try and salvage what is left of this mediocre season. Patsos is no humanitarian that was a move made solely out of self preservation. Jeez ... some of you guys are easily bamboozled😎 I think your crew was bamboozled too, when Nico made a return. This is why you should just wait until the end of the season to cast judgment on the players, coaching staff and administration.

I never said one way or the other that he would or would not return this season. 2. I do think Nico was scapegoated here by more than a few and then lauded based on his Iona comeback last week. 3. I'm fairly confident that all the talk about Nico moving on was a bit more than talk. Where there is smoke there is fire. I do think his knee and attitude issues may have helped squelch that talk ... at least for now.

I like the fact that Jimmy did not lose Lavon. After all his drama on and off the court last year I was skeptical we would get much out of him this year. Somehow he is providing senior leadership and performing very well on the court. Too often fans get to preoccupied with substitution patterns and time outs and lose track of the fact that the coach's job is to keep the team together and productive. Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards According to a TU blog, it has been Lori Ancil from the Athletic Department who has been working with Lavon to get and keep him focused. Kudos to whoever came up with that idea; hope it continues to work and I think it will.

Since the posts that point out what some of us see as the not so positive side of our head coach seem to elicit carpel tunnel inducing responses from a not to be named herein few, I thought it might be informative and entertaining to create a thread where all of those that can't wait to pounce on even the slightest criticism have a thread that they can extoll JP's coaching (and personal?) virtues instead. Those of us that have followed JP's career for way too many years are likely slightly jaded and I see this as an opportunity for us to learn from those who see him as a good/great (you fill it in) coach as they point out his winning ways.... IS, while I love your stuff, try and limit your posts to identify singular positives and not just rehash the "I love everything Siena" shtick (not that there is anything wrong with it). While I don't necessarily have to like a coach, players, admin in order to be a Siena fan or cheer my favorite team on; I do like the following: Love Jimmys passion/fire for the Siena program; I believe he truly loves this job and is grateful to have it. Like how he tries to instill culture, history and basically non-basketball knowledge/experiences to the players. Jimmy's generous and appreciates the Siena fans by purchasing pizzas for most every away bus trip. I believe he truly cares not only about the Siena program but also the players and the fans. I admit he might not be the greatest coach (x's & o's, recruiting, etc) but he is Siena's coach at the moment and I'll continue to not only support him but continue to root for my team.

As is always the case, as with any coach, and any player for that matter, as a fan, I always like my coach better, and right now, Jimmy is his name, when he is winning.
We will all like Jimmy a little bit better if he wins his biggest test to date on Monday night.
We will really all like Jimmy better if he wins his last 5 games going into the tournament, which means he will have won his last 7 games.
None of you guys liked Mitch. I didn't like Mitch.
All of us loved Saint Fran. All of us.
But if Fran didn't win? We would have hated the "choice". His recruitment. His career coaching record. His wife. His age. And yada, yada, yada.
But instead he won. And he won big and he won quick. So we overlooked his career coaching record before coming to Siena.
We overlooked traits that we would have hated him for if he lost at Siena.
Most of us hated Rob Lanier and certainly Bob Beyer.
Paul Hewitt, Mike Deane, John Garrison (?) (correctly spelled last name escaping me at moment?). Yup. All of them were loved.
Louis Orr. Not so much, including by me despite winning 20 games in only season here.
The common thread on whether they were liked or not of course was and is, that character trait called winning.
Always has been. Always will be.
In the end, nothing else really matters.
Our society as a whole likes people, coaches, and players better if they are connected to winning.
I don't see Coach K, Bobby Knight, John Wooden getting ripped too much.
Rex Ryan when he was winning with the Jets early on. Loved.
When he was losing. Not so loved.
Jimmy has not won, so most of you haters on this board, will take all the negatives of his personality, and hate the guy.
It's the nature of the game.
But if Jimmy goes on to win his next 5 games, wins the MAAC Tournament, and heck, let's even stretch it out there a bit further, and say he wins a game in the Big Dance, then all of a sudden, all those negatives in his personality will start to fade.
Soon enough if he by some mirace continues to win again next year, these negative traits, will now start to become terms and traits of endearment.
His recruiting will not be that the kids have no other offers. It will be that he knows how to find talent and develop players.
There will be less haters. More acceptance. The bandwagon will begin to fill up.
Winning as it always does, time and time again, cures all ills.
Winning will win out again. Everybody loves winners. It's always been that way. It always will be that way.
Nothing wrong with that at all. It's just the plain and simple truth.
That's why we are fans in the first place.
We all want winning. It's the number one coveted trait for any coach or player to be labeled as.
"They're a Winner."
So ya. That is what I like most about our coach Jimmy Patsos right now.
It's his two gaming winning streak as our coach that I like best about him.
Go Saints! Beat Monmouth!

If the revolving door slows down, the team is always well prepared and approaching this like the business they want it to be, and everyone is held accountable, responsibletc, brings a no man is more important than the team attitude, keeps their academics in check and go on to be productive after graduating, the rest will follow. The wake up call should NEVERbe the result of a shits torment from October to February.
Oh and all of us didn't always agree with St. Fran, but respected the way he and his recruits and their families represented the program.

I really don't understand all of the controversy...if Patsos doesn't like the way a player isn't performing up to expectations he doesn't get minutes and is soon gone...I don't think Patsos hates the player...thus the same should apply to Patsos..I don't think anyone hates him but he isn't performing up to expectations

Lol I see more examples of why people dislike his actions/coaching or sarcastic attempts to sneak in a negative complement than actually listing a true like. That's ok, then those same people shouldn't be too upset when I post non-negative stuff in a mostly negative thread.

As is always the case, as with any coach, and any player for that matter, as a fan, I always like my coach better, and right now, Jimmy is his name, when he is winning. ... (Note: deleted only to reduce size not because of content) ... . Go Saints! Beat Monmouth! I actually liked and supported each Siena coach in my fandom lifetime (1988 Deane - present Jimmy) while they were coaching at Siena. I didn't start reading the Siena board until sometime during Fran's tenure. So obviously I only heard rumors about the coaches before Fran. I remember being able to upgrade my seats form 104, second to last row from top (basically a row or two behind Rich Rossetti to Sec 122, Row E we're Mom & I still sit). I used to cheer so hard during Byer's years (because very few were (or all they did was complain)) that many yelled st me to stop or calm down. I found it disturbing that "Siena fans" felt the need to bad mouth their current coach rather than attemp to cheer their team on. I vowed to "never" turn into one of them. I will, to the best of my ability, attempt to always support my favorite team - no matter the circumstances or how poorly the coach's "coaching ability" may be. This is not a direct negative response to your comment, rather just wanted to make it clear that I, for one, did not dislike any Siena coach (while they were coaching at Siena). After they left, then maybe I had some potential negative comments when referring to them/their abilities. I didn't like the fact that Fran left but I understood it was what was best for him and his family. I didn't hate him, just hated the fact he left and selfishly wanted him to stay and eventually get Siena to stay on top of MAAC or help us move up in conference.

If he has a different take on this than you do, so what? No need to belittle someone for expressing an opinion. On the other hand, if you meant "easily bamboozled" as a compliment, I apologize for taking exception to your post.

I love the fact that Jimmy is Siena's only coach to coach the Men's Basketball team to its first D1 postseason championship. I don't even care that it was the CBI (which some will refuse to acknowledge as a true accomplish - they still had to play the games and win them). Only Jimmy & Mike coached Siena to the teams' victory in the last game of their respective seasons (In D1, I know Siena won another post season tournament as D2 or D3?). Very few D1 teams (excluding teams from conferences that don't participate in a conference tournament to determine who automatically goes to NCAA).
