Good win. Nothing to complain about tonight from my perspective As for the Iona zone discussion, I don't think playing zone against IC is a guaranteed winning situation given their 3 pt shooting ability. Pick your poison there. We picked the Man to Man poison and it killed us. If we picked the zone poison most likely we are still dead. To win that game Siena had to hit shot and they didn't. Playing zone takes away from their easy drives to the hoop and scores and also gives us a chance to go out and at least bother their point shots. Iona shot 48.6% from 2 pt range in man to man. They also shot 43.5% from three. If you stop the 2's, it's harder to make threes because their streakier nature could lead to Siena runs and get Iona tighter. That's how you beat Iona. At the very least, we've learned that man didn't work for this team...especially against a more athletic Iona team. I mean, some of us knew that 3.5 years ago, but maybe someone needed a little reminder. Mitch beat Iona at the TUC 2 out of 3 years with the zone...and one of those years it was vs. the 54th ranked team when he only had 6 guys. And I'm pretty sure the team was playing uphill and into the wind both ways. If Mitch could do it with Kyle Downey leading the charge, JP can do with these guys. Play zone Jimmy. Wake up.

I cannot understand how JP and his staff can be in such a fog about this.............yr 4 with this core group, unbelievable that he would even go long stretches of man D against better/quicker athletes.............even that CBI championship run was fueled by terrific zone defense..........and in as much as it has been said this group was "disinterested" in last yr's CBI loss, I will be damned after watching that game again vs. Morehead St, didn't JP play a lot of man that game against some very good athletes........that spells disaster...........problem could also lie in who is doing the scouting, although they can all watch film...........more alarming is watching the debacle unfold and again no adjustment or change in defense by the coaching staff........sorry, but no one can defend that (literally)!!!!!!!!!!

Finally some dividends from his 9 weeks in Boston. Lavon won this game.... No question that Lavon played terrific. But it was a solid team win, not a win because of one guy. They don't win without Lavon's effort and the numbers he put up, but the same can be said for Brett, Jo, Marquis' nine assists, Sammy's play off the bench, and good team defense.

Wright had no chance of guarding Dixon, so even if everyone else was adequate in man, wright was would either foul out or get someone else in trouble on help D as dixon would blow by him... yes, use it in spurts, but this team is built for zone, even if it isn't perfect, it beats lay-up drills by the other team.

Great team win, but it's been made clear over the last month, we go as Lavon goes. When he plays up to his potential, we are difficult to beat.
