Besides level, playing time is probably most important thing to these kids, with Jalen and Don Sophs, just signed Harris, it was always going to be hard to get quality freshmen guard. Use the ship on quality sit one play 2 or 3 type kid ( preferby big man to replace Burns) and sign top flight guard or two in 2020 class when we will have a few years separation from Jalen and Don. Don't use ship on borderline D1 type kid So you're not down for grabbing someone like Kingston's Moore for some added depth? We're an injury away from disaster. And we'll have pickett playing 38 minutes a game again now. Pickett and Carey have to stay healthy to win a championship. Brian Moore and Webster can help you but they’re not saving you if you don’t have your big guns. Had Ronald Moore gotten hurt those great teams would’ve been toast too. Kenny Hasbrouck could play a few minutes at PG but the team was no where as effective. I agree with Tony...Jalen/Don probably play 30-32 minutes each...one always in the game. Hein and Harris play the other minutes at SG. Very early depth chart with the team reporting to campus a week from Sunday: PG: Pickett (32) Carey (6) Darwiche (2) SG: Carey (25) Hein (10) Harris (5) SF: Camper (17) Harris (18) Ratliff (5) PF: Seymour (25) Sutherland (10) Camper (5) C: Burns (25) Friday (12) Young (3)

There's no way Camper is only playing 17 mpg, I'd guess closer to 25 and 2. there's no way Harris gets more minutes than Camper. We'll see, I could be wrong but common sense says Camper will be playing more than Harris

You can’t fault a kid for choosing Hawaii for school. He’s looking to start no questions about it, personally I would go to the school where I could start and not come off the bench. He definitely would’ve added the much needed depth the Saints want for next season however

I think it would be foolish to think that the minutes played by players on the roster won't be substantially different in March then it will be in December. Our top 3-5 players are obviously solid but history has yet to be written on our kids say 5 thru 10. That's what makes this so much damn fun!! I hope these kids are working so hard over the next five months that it's a real struggle for the coaches to figure out their rotation. Come on Luke!!

If Young is only going to get 3 minutes red shirt him. Young will get more than 3 minutes. Friday's long term health prospects are uncertain and he gets winded quickly. Also depending on matchups, I can seen Burns sliding over to the 4 if they need to go big and take the offense inside. They'll need that extra body at the 5.

I don’t think Young is ready to play yet. Needs a lot of work on his body and the year of practicing and conditioning would help him/us down the road.

I agree it seems to me as well that Young is a good candidate for a red shirt. Let's give the coaches a chance to assess him in practice when he is with the whole team and see what they think. It may be that he is able to compete better than anticipated. I trust the coaches to make a smart decision after they see everyone in practice.

Seems reasonable to allow the coaches to assess the situation when all the players are on campus and in the gym rather than making a call from the arm chair never having seen the kid against college level competition in game conditions. But that is just my opinion.

It’s time for Sammy to step up. He really needs to earn 15 min a game. How does a kid go for 15/15 against Louisville athletes, but can’t get on the floor vs St Peters? IF he does make a big jump, and I’m really hoping he does, then 15-20 min a night shouldn’t be too much to ask from him this year.

Wasn’t great on the glass or defensively big did a nice job in PnR looks as a roll man and finisher. And even being under 50% from the line he was still 1.4 PPS, which is a big upgrade over Fisher and where he want Burns to be. He was also hurt defensively by playing when we were at our worst defensively before we figured it out in MAAC play. He was in the best shape of his life at that point though, and I’m worried he’ll never quite get back to that after the injury and a summer (ideally Carm can push him). He is in theory a really, really good backup center and with Burns’ ability to step out, maybe against “up” competition we can give some 2-big looks.

If Young is only going to get 3 minutes red shirt him. Redshirting a kid is a much riskier proposition these days. Much greater odds you don’t get the payoff on the back end.

While it was disappointing we didn't get Webster - I think the roster is really taking shape.
Carm was able to retain the entire roster. We lost Walker but Gary Harris (on paper) looks like an upgrade (certainly much more college ready body). The one guy that we lost (which had nothing to do with the coaching change) was Richard. Too bad but perhaps Hein can help replace some of that.
We essentially traded ... Smithen for Carey - Fisher for Burns and will be a collective effort to replace Degnan's rebounding. Don, Jalen and Sloan are all entering their sophomore year's which is usually where a player makes his biggest jump.
Assuming we don't add anyone else - it is mid June now - we will have six new guys that did not play last year. Plus, Friday and Ratliff are back who missed most of the year.
-Carey -Burns -Sutherland -Harris -Young -Hein
Team will be in Sunday, June 23rd so we'll get all the official heights/weights and we can all discuss who get bigger and stronger. lol

Beats getting 90minutes out of him. That little playing time is a waste of a year for someone who could be a contributor in the future. Of course this all depends on Sammy’s health.
