Are we talking about jawuan Daniels? Kid can ball. Troubled kid but they had one hell of a high school team. He wasn’t able to play his senior year due to a few reasons. Would be a steal talent wise if he comes. Also, pat Spencer just commited to northwestern for his 5th year of eligibility. Should of went after him. No risk, high reward. Would of been a great transition from Loyola to Siena..just like jiimmy lol Loyola to Northwestern sounds as an academic move as well as playing up in the B10 It’s not really playing up tho! He didn’t play b-ball at Loyola. No clue if he will play in the big ten

Given the rule that kept Elijah from playing this past semester, I am not sure about the merits of a mid-year transfer. If playing for School A for the first semester counts as a year of eligibility, playing second semester a year later at School B would Le also count as a year. Therefore, someone who transfers after a year and a half may have to wait a year and a half at School B to have two full years of eligibility.
Can anyone confirm that what I am saying is correct?

There are 3 options when a midyear transfer happens, taking your example of a player who transfers in the middle of his sophomore year. 1. Get a waiver to be eligible at the start of fall semester (happens frequently) and have 2 full years of eligibility left. 2. If Waiver denied, be eligible at the end of fall semester (December 15ish), with that partial year counting as one of the 2 years of eligibility remaining. 3. Sit out all of the following season and have 2 full years of eligibility.

I think anyone that comes as a midseason transfer would likely join the team for second semester of the following season. So you are correct that they would wind up using two years of eligibility for two semesters. If it were a freshman transferring though he could play second semester sophomore year and have two more years of eligibility at Siena.

Hope I’m wrong, but don’t feel good about getting this commitment. Tony you don't appear to be wrong. After doing a bit of twitter scrolling Webster has basically followed the entire staff at Hawaii as well as the basketball page while not doing so with anyone related to Siena. The question now becomes what happens to the last scholarship. Do we try to find another class of '19 player or do we hold it for a transfer? He followed someone at Siena too - one of the managers I think. It's ironic that some of you guys are pessimistic. Some of the Hawaii fans don't feel good about getting him either because of all the positive things Papa Webster said about Siena in the TU article, the fact that Hawaii is so remote, and the fact that the kid is religious and Siena is a Catholic school. Hawaii doesn't appear to have as much talent as Siena (potentially) has. So it would seem they have the advantage in playing time at first glance. But not so fast. Webster would be the first guard off the bench backing up the 1 and 2. Hawaii fans think Webster would be the 3rd string SG behind Pickett and Harris. They are unaware that Pickett is the PG and Harris will play at the 3. There's a good 15-20 minutes per game minimum for Webster guaranteed as a frosh - more if someone gets hurt.

Yes, it is more rare because kids want to play but some (Semi Ojeyele who went from Duke to SMU and is now on the Celtics is one notable example).

Wow! Unless his decision has not been made public, it seems he might be struggling with it. Hopefully, he ends the week with the decision. Not that he would HAVE to be here on June 24th, but you think he would want to.

Not that he would HAVE to be here on June 24th, but you think he would want to. Doesn't have to be at school to play this year until Labor day technically but I would think if he commits he'll be there with the whole team (everyone except for Matt Hein, grad transfer rules are different he won't be in until August). Hopefully Sienafan is right. I checked the Hawaii board and they aren't confident either (seems they don't think their coach can close). But the follows on twitter was surprising especially since Carm followed Webster and he did not follow Carm back after following three HU assistant coaches. I will say the longer this goes on...probably the better for us. If it was Hawaii for sure you'd think he would've already announced. Still favors HU but you never know...if he's going back and forward maybe his parents push for the closer place.

This sounds like a Wednesday/Thursday announcement. Today??? Let’s go!!! Here’s hoping Siena gets some good news today or Monday from JW. I’m still holding out hope. JMO but I think JW’s best chance at getting to NCAAs would be with Siena (even if he has to come off the bench his 1st season). Hey, who knows, he could prove his value early on and many get more mins than planned.

Watch more video of the kid from Ohio. He’s impressing me more and more. I too liked the highlights on him but I also don’t know the level of competition his team was playing against. KK would love all that the highlights showed: scoring (drives to basket & 3 ball), steals, rebounds, assists. I’m not sure how well he’d get those drive to the basket against potentially faster more athletic competition but it looks like he can do it all (against the competition in the videos). I’d really like him if he came as a walk on with possibility of a ship maybe in years 3 or 4.

It's not like it's a business that closes down, I suppose we could hear over the weekend.

I heard Texas is one of those. That's not what I heard. It's smothered in BBQ sauce so it must be very carnivorous. With long horns.
