What you say is very true but I think our situation goes way beyond the typical 'my team is better than your team' banter - there are a lot of folks that aren't fans in the sense that they go to games, rather fans that read local media, watch us on TWC when convenient, and then see a capsule on the late sports segment on local news. The scores aren't what stimulates their curiosity, rather it's the mind numbing post game comments, the speculation that all is not well in the media, the on-paper strengths (4 senior 1000 pt scorers gets noticed) compared with the awful box scores - it all points to something different and very wrong about Siena basketball. My good friend who is a season ticket holder doesn't bother to watch our toad TWC games - just no longer a priority - sad but very telling. I don't think anyone has been happy, maybe just holding on, hoping for a change or thinking the situation will improve. It has grown to this "ugliness." How the situation as gotten as bad as it has is still hard for me to grasp. Simple "people" skills! I have tried to defend Jimmy since he has been here. Most of us have tried to be supportive. I have always thought that the man was a smart guy and basically a good person. He will figure it out. But it's getting pretty clear to even the most optimistic fans that JP has got to get his sxxt together and shut his overactive mouth. As I have sat here over the last few weeks reading the justified criticism of our program, I have experienced more depression than any other time in my 40+ years of Siena hoops. I don't know, maybe it's because some much was expected this year from this team. I think mostly it is due to the embarrassment the program is experiencing publically. Not only locally but nationally we are tarnishing our reputation. Much has been said about other coaches having ammo to use against us in recruiting. How can you dispute it? Let's pray the staff gets it together and the kids can develop some kind of bond, the "them against us" mentality. Our seniors are going to have to lead the way. JP is going to have to show some real humility, taking ownership of this situation. I hope he starts doing some personal soul searching (if he hasn't been already) Let's pray for positive changes in 2017. Go Saints!!! Great Post. Most here have either tried to defend JP or remain neutral. Know in my case I was neutral to the UA game, final straw. Siena has so much goodwill nationally, or had, a lot going for it. shame they can't manage as simple a a BB program that generates interest in the school and revenue. Perhaps if we are all lucky the proverbial light bulb will go off in the right places.

Wouldn't you think Manning would be able to talk sense to him with their being together so long? Didn't we try that with Mitch--bring in a "strong" assistant and let him be a senior advisor that the head coach listens to and works with? Part of the issue here, like with Mitch, is that the coach just isn't able to change what his personality and instincts tell him to do. Jimmy has repeatedly said the right things--"that's on me", we gotta do this or that--then he goes out with the same poor in-game management, no adjustments, etc. Hope I'm wrong and he can change his approach, but nothing we've seen so far indicates that.
