"Steve" called in to discuss the current situation. He's either a poster here or the same sentiment is run rampant through the TU. Mentioned he skipped the Vt. Game and watched on the tube.

He says it's not how you start but how you finish but the approach is all wrong. Most if not all start their best five because that is how you have the best chance of the best players playing at the same time. Foul trouble would go down and the team could play with a lead instead of starting off behind. The substitution pattern would be easier to manage if the focus was on ensuring that the best players were available at the start of each half and the end of games. Why the coach continues to tie one hand behind their back at the start of each game is beyond me.

I'm sure the school is aware of the strong negative and questioning tone in the area. A guy I don't even know saw my Siena bag at the Y and came over and asked me what the hell is going on - he is a season ticket holder but left in disgust during the VT game. Airing the dirty linen in a self-serving mode rather than quietly fixing it and taking care of business is not doing anyone any good.

Thought he threw a little cold water on Brett and the engagement as being somewhat of a distraction and maybe he didn't want to play as much - really, IMO, unnecessary and likely not productive Yes. Whether that was the intention or not, it came off like that. With a little qualification, like 'but our goal is to nurture complete citizens' or something like that. But it did make it seem like a distraction. And I am really tired of blaming the millennials and this 'Me Generation'. A. I don't like that generalization and B. the rest of the MAAC teams (and every other NCAA team) are composed of millennials.

Ditto, stopped wearing my Siena gear to Planet Fitness in Saratoga. Oddly, JP has friends that also work out there.

It's getting old having to defend the team you love every time you wear SIENA on your chest. It happens to me constantly. Actually I don't have to even be wearing the name. Every jerk that's a fair weather fan and I see at games when we're good, has something derogatory to say when we have down years. Of course, everyone loves a winner. Let's pray that these talks with the kids opens JP's eyes and he takes the criticism to heart. Hopefully everyone involved with the team is doing a little soul searching.

What you say is very true but I think our situation goes way beyond the typical 'my team is better than your team' banter - there are a lot of folks that aren't fans in the sense that they go to games, rather fans that read local media, watch us on TWC when convenient, and then see a capsule on the late sports segment on local news. The scores aren't what stimulates their curiosity, rather it's the mind numbing post game comments, the speculation that all is not well in the media, the on-paper strengths (4 senior 1000 pt scorers gets noticed) compared with the awful box scores - it all points to something different and very wrong about Siena basketball. My good friend who is a season ticket holder doesn't bother to watch our toad TWC games - just no longer a priority - sad but very telling.

I don't think anyone has been happy, maybe just holding on, hoping for a change or thinking the situation will improve. It has grown to this "ugliness." How the situation as gotten as bad as it has is still hard for me to grasp. Simple "people" skills! I have tried to defend Jimmy since he has been here. Most of us have tried to be supportive. I have always thought that the man was a smart guy and basically a good person. He will figure it out. But it's getting pretty clear to even the most optimistic fans that JP has got to get his sxxt together and shut his overactive mouth. As I have sat here over the last few weeks reading the justified criticism of our program, I have experienced more depression than any other time in my 40+ years of Siena hoops. I don't know, maybe it's because some much was expected this year from this team. I think mostly it is due to the embarrassment the program is experiencing publically. Not only locally but nationally we are tarnishing our reputation. Much has been said about other coaches having ammo to use against us in recruiting. How can you dispute it? Let's pray the staff gets it together and the kids can develop some kind of bond, the "them against us" mentality. Our seniors are going to have to lead the way. JP is going to have to show some real humility, taking ownership of this situation. I hope he starts doing some personal soul searching (if he hasn't been already) Let's pray for positive changes in 2017. Go Saints!!!

Wouldn't you think Manning would be able to talk sense to him with their being together so long?

Wouldn't you think Manning would be able to talk sense to him with their being together so long? It appears no. Plus JP is like 17-18 years older. He may or see Greg that way. As the youngest of 5 kids, it sometimes doesn't matter how old or experienced you are, people will always see you in a certain light or the relayionship has been long term
