No question our staff didn't get it done Sunday. It didn't help only getting 26 and 21 foul-plagued minutes out of Brett and Marquis. Nico needed a half of basketball to get his legs back and he was as good in the second half as he was bad in the first half. The smartest thing Will Brown ever did at UAlbany was bring Don Bassett on board. HE is the assistant Will listens to during a game. He's as good a basketball mind this area has ever seen. We have 3 kids sitting next to JP. He yells at them more than he listens to them. He needs a guy his age or older, that he respects, and will listen to during a game. A guy he WON'T yell at. Someone he'll let help him. I heard an assistant is leaving at the end of the year, and if its true, maybe D'Arg should "strongly suggest" bringing in a veteran guy to sit on JP's bench next year. Aptly named thread with that tidbit of info.

Needs to someone he knows so there's a trust level there. I dont think it can be someone he just meets now for the first time. I think he tried it with Luke, but he wasn't the answer. Queue Lonergan or maybe Ruland 2.0 can impress D'Arg the second time around. Quite frankly, the staff turnover exceeding the 'high expected' transfer rates of D-1 basketball players is really another distress signal. They ain't all leaving for greener pastures. Hum Lonergan ? Interesting thought.

Which comment? And they have a board? There's 2 members right? CC and Bob? How will I live over them yukking it up? lmao (there ya go) Your 2-4 comment. I think cc's little brother is over there as well. How will you live? How will we all; they actually believe they're smarter because they have suny degrees. It's funny, I really never thought to ever go their board. Wasn't aware they really had one. If they're all here reading ours, it goes to prove the infatuation with our program. If someone asked me in October who the favorite of the game would be, I'd say Siena by 10. The day of the game, it was UA by 7. I didn't make up these numbers, its what they were before the game was played. Again, according to the Sagarin rankings. UA should be proud they got to 110's before our game. I guarantee they didn't think they'd be there by beating a team like Penn State. They've overachieved so far this year, congrats. And of course, we've underachieved, so us being around 150 isn't hard to believe is it?? lol

Yeah that's the thing. Whenever there is a change in the program it is usually not because coaches are moving on to highly sought after positions. It feels as though they are almost deflections by JP. Like "well he wasn't doing a good enough job we need better." There is no stability or consistency within his program. All the while the apologists seek silver lining in these new beginnings. Going to enjoy the win this year because who knows what the team will look like next year

Maybe Mike Deane would be interested. D'Arg hires him with the obligation JP listens, perfect replacement if JP doesn't.

HJ, so your boy Manning is leaving? Always thought he had a bright future. Good guy with family connections. Definitely wasting his time on JP's bench.

Good post, HJ - A lot of basketball to be played. However I watched the replay of the UA game last night. Looking at it objectively (and I think even ClickClack would agree) Siena was by far the more talented team. But Albany was the better team, the tougher team and had the better coach. Siena played much better in the second half. I still believe we have the best talent in the MAAC and can win the league. However I'm not sure this coach and pull it off. Our margin for error is gone..the chemistry has to start to formulate in a positive direction. There can be no more suspensions and drama. Brett's knees are a concern but at this point only managing them and hoping for the best is all we can do. I had Siena at 5-1 ... 4-2 worst case. 2-4 is unacceptable. This was supposed to be our best team since Fran left. It doesn't mean we can't recover but it has to happen now. @ St. Bonaventure, Fairfield, @ Rider, Florida Gulf Coast before Siena goes into that 8 day break they need to put up some wins. We badly need a 3-1 stretch here with preferably two MAAC wins. Let's hope the team sticks together, gets tougher, and plays like we all know they can!!! I sent you a PM as well but since you brought it up (my name)...just to be clear, I don't agree that you are by far the more talented team. At center and PF, maybe...you got matched and outplayed badly at the point and wing (Nichols/Cremo) and your bench is trash. Our two sophomores shredded you and even though you played well in the second half offensively, you still gave up 43pt in the second half. So no, I don't agree that you are vastly more talented, certainly not on the wings or back-court, at the 4 and 5 I agree, you have better "talent" but one is injured and the other soft. Our bench was/is better then your bench as well. I don't mean to detract from your therapy session so proceed. If I may as an outsider though, I'd like to offer some obeservations...(take it or leave it or maybe I get banned you guys do have a ton of talent, I see no reason looking from outside in that you can't win the MAAC, your problem isn't talent. Not sure what you do with Bisping, great player and I've admired his play for years but the kid looks like a shell of his former self. He had a few drives in the second half, I was like oh oh, there he is...but he couldn't sustain it. You are getting nothing out of the PG position with moving Wright off the ball. You have to find someone to get you into your sets (if you have them)...far to often you guys kicked the ball around the horn and then someone threw something up. You have to rebound better and push the ball and utilize your explosiveness with Wright and Nico, even the other lesser use kids would get some easy buckets. You need to sit Fisher, Brett Gifford compared to him looks like an athletic freak, he doesn't do anything well. Lastly, it starts at the top, Patsos needs to do some SERIOUS soul searching. I find it unconscionable that out one side of his mouth he's lecturing through the media that players need to move on, look towards the next play but that he's "dealing with 18-22" year old kids. And in the next breath he has NO problem getting a tech after Nico drills a three about something that happened 2 possessions earlier. Like I said, you don't have a talent problem, but you keep throwing kids under the bus like that and take no personal responsibility, this will get worse! I wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the year...not much for the fans to do but hope for the best and cheer your team on. So much season still left...you doing well helps our RPI so good luck. I'm just wondering where your parentheses ended in the start of your second paragraph... your SUNY grammar is almost as hard to read as your shitty takes. Remember that time I reminded you your RPI doesn't mean shit cause the AE will always be a one bid league unlike the CAA which Albany will never see for basketball? Relax click

On UA: So-So Jimbo screwed the pooch in the first half of the UA game by not adjusting ... letting players jack up too many three's and trying to force the ball into JO where 2 defenders collapsed when he should have been attacking the rim really cost the game. Too big a hole to crawl out of in the 2nd half. On the season so far; 1. We only have 5 maybe 6 solid mid major players, our bench is low major. When we're forced to go to the bench there's nothing there .... no production (no scoring no rebounding no defense). Sorry smacks of bad recruiting. 2. For whatever reason these guys are having a hard time jelling. I hope it's not a chemistry issue and more to do with injuries and suspensions. I can't just put my finger on it, something isn't right. Is it just me or are others seeing the same? It's almost as if none of the pieces fit (both players and staff) If I'm Jimmy I think I go no more than 8 players and try and build some continuity. No more Evan. Use Smithen Friday Richard.

Relax click The parentheses ended where the smiley face was placed, board converted it to a smiley face. But then again, someone with two firing synapses and born within the last 70 years would have been able to figure that out.

Playing 8 makes sense. Only so many able bodies like you said. And it goes back to yanking a player for one mistake and never letting them play through mistakes and get into a rhythm. It makes sense his teams play better in second half with foul trouble because he can't make these quick subs
