My issue with JP's recruiting is his pay 1, get 3 deals. They've become somewhat common for him (Cam, Huerter, Degnan, Brendan Barry). I like Huerter and think he can be a good role player, but that's exactly what these type of guys are at absolute best. Would rather take a shot on a kid like Montague who has the physical tools to be a stud with some development

Looking at recruiting a little differently than my previous post, one Kenny and one Nico caliber player per class (of course not all at the same postions)and Siena potentially owns the MAAC every year with a playing group of those eight guys. Problem is JP is starting his 5th recruiting cycle and he's recruited 2 outstanding players in Nico and Wright, a bunch of role guys and 12 transfers. That's not going to cut it to compete and be dominant. Decent yr last season but we were still under 500 vs the best of the conference, I still say he needs to hit homers in '17's class or its back to mid pack in a very mediocre / declining conference.

Like anyone else I am all for getting the best players you can. The problem with recruiting (and getting) 13 "All-MAAC" level players is that someone is going to have to tell "All-MAAC players 8-9-10-11-12&13 that they are only going to play 5 minutes a game (on a good day).

Very true and the situation is further strained when you have 6 or 7 in one class!

Didn't Niagara in their good years have a thug who beat up a fellow athlete/? Iona most likely overlooking or bending rules under Cluess with School administration having a blind eye. Old timers will remember the misconduct when big Jeff played there under Jimmy V's guidance. It is hard to say which comes first overlooking rules? or Winning?
