We (Baltimore fans) told yall she was a nut and you guys said leave her alone. Trust me she is shopping him now. PASTOS was smart he waited until her leverage was gone. He is no super star so no team will give up a scholly for 2 years to get 1. She has too much pride to drop him to D2. So you may be stuck with her for 1 more year. What a garbage post. If "garbage" means "accurate" then you're correct.

Per Jimmy's presser the punishment was decided by the players. With that said, don't think there was anything negative with decision (or any hard feelings) since they (the players) all seemed to cheer for him last night when he accepted his award. I think he'll and the team will be ok (hey, that reminds me of a song but can't remember the title ).

The only thing Lisa Long did wrong in my opinion was to post on this message board. She can walk the talk, so to speak about basketball. Not many on here can. I don’t believe she said anything wrong on this board; she spoke her opinion, as all of you did. But most of the time she was right and that hurts most egos on this board.
The big problem on this issue is the coach. Why a coach would make statements, as he did, about Long at his last post-game press conference, shows his mouth runs faster than his brain thinks. In fact look how he acts and speaks to Marisa Jacques interviewing him after the Quin game. His statement and the manner in which he said it was very unprofessional. Maybe he should take a class on how to act when being interviewed.
And stop the comments about Lavon should practice using his right hand. He uses his right hand more effectively than all of his right handed teammates can use their left hand. And that’s a fact.
This is a player’s mother you’re talking about. She hasn’t posted on this board for a while but some continue to bad mouth her. The coach made a mistake in making a statement of “NBA, ACC etc.” at a press conference, grow up, show more class than our coach and leave the lady out of your comments.

Lavon messed up . . . he served his "time out" on the bench . . . now it's time for him to show what he's got on the court this week . . . the better his play the more minutes on the court . . . there's nothing his mom or any poster on the board can do to change this . . . let's hope the Lavon we love to watch is the one that shows up Saturday night . . . team needs the talents of every player to make it to Monday night and beyond

I like Lavon but I have to disagree. She's not here but go read the other boards same old agenda and fighting. A players family member should refrain from posting for a multitude of reasons. Re: Lavon's off hand: Lavon has no right, to say he uses his right better than other team members use their off hand is laughable. I've seen NIco and Wright Brett and others both go left. Seen enough games to know Nico and Wright are both capable of finishing with their off hand, Lavon is so bad with his off hand I've seen him spin into a defender passing up an open look with his right because he can't use it .... Watch. Re JP: I'll agree somewhat probably not best to air your dirty laundry publicly. Would have rather just heard DNP - late for practice, team decision. The end. Deal with the details in house. Admin is paying the price for not ending all this BS freshman year.

No offense but like so many others who may just see her on this board, and this board alone, you likely only know about 5% of the story.

As a neutral observer, this whole thing is extremely disturbing and entertaining... I've never in all my years seen anything like it.
Most of all I feel bad for Lavon... 3 years ago it was obvious no good was going to come of this but this has turned into a complete train wreck.
P.S. Yankee... Stfu...

Feel bad for the kid. Enjoy watching him play.
It's 2016, social media and public forums make it easy for anyone to make public comments anytime, about anything. However, some things are better handled discreetly, away from the public eye. Wish all adults understood that concept.
Hope this gets resolved amicably and quickly. Team must come first.
Go Saints!

And stop the comments about Lavon should practice using his right hand. He uses his right hand more effectively than all of his right handed teammates can use their left hand. And that’s a fact. This is a silly statement. How many times has a defense forced Lavon right, only for him to spin back to his left and be stripped? Happens every game. Per 40 mins, Lavon averages more turnovers than any other rotation player. Even ball dominant guards like Nico, Quis, and Kenny. Those numbers would be even more skewed if we factored in offensive usage rates. I like Lavon's game as a whole but he has no right hand. This situation sucks for Lavon. I stopped reading this board last year due to PPC. I don't know what happened with that missed practice but I hope it was just an accident.

I stopped reading this board last year due to PPC. I don't know what happened with that missed practice but I hope it was just an accident. "Silly statement” First of all he takes the ball up court sometimes and he uses his right hand to dribble up the court. That’s using his right hand. He dribbles between his legs, that’s using his right hand. For the spin around into a defensive player; the only way that happens is if he is driving with his right hand and then spins around to drive using his left hand. It is impossible to drive with your left hand and spin around and drive with your left hand. He would have to be dribbling with his left hand to spin around and drive with his right. Go outside and try it. It’s impossible Now if he is posting up in the lane when he gets the ball, his back is to the hope, then he can spin to his right using his left hand. Or spin to his left using his right hand. He is choosing which way to spin, and lately he is choosing wrong. I saw him spin into the defensive player, which he has done lately, when he is posted up and when he is using his right hand driving. I used the words “more effectively than all” that was an exaggeration on my part. But the statement he can’t use his right hand is also an exaggeration

But the statement he can’t use his right hand is also an exaggeration He has more turnovers this year than Ryan Oliver has in his career. Ryan takes the ball up as much if not more than Lavon. I actually think Lavon does a nice job taking the ball up for the most part. I am not arguing the physics of spinning while dribbling or that he is unable to dribble with his off hand. I would hope most Division 1 college basketball players can do that. I am saying his inability to finish with his right hand dictates every thing he does and defenses know it. To your point, he is choosing which way to spin, and usually spins to the side where he will be finishing with his left. There is a reason help defenders are there to strip him. It's also easier to take a charge on a guy you know is going left. Maybe I am wrong, there's really no way of quantifying it, just based on eye test. But I have difficulty remembering a time he has driven to his right and finished with his right hand.

Not saying I would have handled it how JP did but he wears his emotions on his sleeve, JP is who he is and he does not sugar coat that. I can appreciate that about him.
As for Long I feel bad about his mother that cannot be an easy situation for him.
But lets not forget the reason for the DNP was showing up 1 hr and 15 min late for practice and it not being the first time. The team chose the punishment, coach upheld the punishment. To me this is now put to bed, the team and fans should move forward, we need a positive week and no more distractions as this team prepares to make a run. As fans I know its fun and our right to talk about it (I love talking about it) but I think we should discuss more positive topics the rest of the week.
I would vote to lock this thread after today if we had the option.

Having spoken with Ms. Long privately twice this year, I find her personable and having more intelligent regarding basketball than perhaps 90% that post here. Both times she made statements comments than made me uncomfortable. I will debate those comments privately but to be fair to her not in the public area. Ms Long is the typical helicopter parent, wants the best for her child, however at times cannot see the forest through the trees. Having coached children and young adults parents are the biggest challenge to coaching that demographic group. As for the coach, it is obvious you have a dislike for him. Per others on this board the school has spoken to her in the past, and not the coach. Jacques seems to have no problem with him, so please don't speak for her. He has handled the situation professionally in the presser without throwing Ms Long under the proverbial bus. To be fair JP doesn't always manage situations as I would like but than again I don't make the big bucks and not a wannabe D1 coach. Good luck to the team school in the upcoming weekend.

Yeah, I'd also vote that we move this over to the Smack Talk board so those of us that prefer to avoid all the drama can enjoy this portion of the board while others can continue to discuss it if they wish.
