4-21 from 3. There is the game. Law of averages after 22 made 3s last two games. It's funny, because Siena came into the game as a better 3-pt shooting team than Iona (38.6 to 36.2), so I guess Iona shooting .481 from there tonight, while we shot 19.0, was the abnormal stat that decided the game. true but Iona is more of a volume 3 pt shooting team, they have made 80 more 3's and taken almost 250 more then siena, their offense is built on the 3, vs Siena where for the most part they take them as they come. so that small shooting % difference doesn't mean much when they average almost 3 more made 3's per game and 8 more attempts.

I don't care if Nico doesn't score a single point in the MAAC Tourney game against Iona. I want him glued to AJ English the whole time, his defense last night was fantastic. I don't want to ever see AJ get another open look against Siena.

I was one of the lucky 6000 + at last night's game and I can tell you this - the atmosphere in the second half was the most electric it has been this season. After being down 25 points to Iona, and then surging back the way the Saints did was something to behold. The play of the game for me that sort of epitomized the second half effort from Siena was just after Brett's three pointer to make it a one possession game. After Siena got the ball back, trailing by 3 points, Marquis had the ball knocked away by Much. "Quis hit the deck and pushed the ball forward. JO hit the floor next and tapped the ball sideways to Nico who had the pass to beat two defenders to find Long who put it in to make it a one point contest. Then came the Nico and Lavon celebration and the house was rockin'. What a play - what a team - proud to be a Saints fan!!! That team and the crowd were so invested at that point, it was unreal. GREAT, really unbelievable comeback.
Sad ending, but don't discount how much Siena cared and how those kids worked for those last 20 minutes. They were determined not to be embarrassed on the TUC court by Iona, and they weren't. I think they held Iona SCORELESS for over 7 minutes in the second half and a lot of that credit goes to Brett for his defense and his board work and to Nico and what he did defensively on English - that was an impressive, impressive showing.
Well, it is on to Fairfield. Learn from this one and move on.

I don't feel too terrible about this loss cause I feel like a Siena win last night would have made it almost impossible to beat Iona for a third time. Now they got their revenge out of the way for the loss in New Rochelle and Siena can be the one seeking vengeance in the MAAC Tourney. Perhaps this loss leaves Siena too spent by the MAAC finals but I feel way better about our chances in the semis.

There's no "issue" with them, but when 'Quis was out, Nico carried the backcourt, now......he isn't "the guy" anymore, and it's gonna take some attitude adjustment. I'm glad it's happening now, so the guys can used to their new roles with 'Quis back. Did Kenny even play in the 2nd half? Might be time to roll with our best 5 starters and starting line-up of the future... PG: Wright SG: Clareth SF: Long PF: Bisping C: JO Kenny, Oliver, Fisher off the bench..LaRose for some spot minutes In a one and done situation you can't afforded to get into these big holes so start you're 5 best players. Next two games are big...hopefully win them both and get some momentum for the tournament. Wright should have most of the rusty shaken off with two more games under his belt. Agree 100%. Also need to have some plays to get open looks for Ryan, LaRose & Brett.

Perhaps this loss leaves Siena too spent by the MAAC finals but I feel way better about our chances in the semis. It did go through my head last night that it is tough to beat a good team three times in one season. And to win the MAAC championship Siena is very likely going to have to beat Iona again. Still it was disappointing to come out flat and get down 25 points only to rally and come up short in the end. A lot to play for in these final two games - secure the #3 seed, get to 20 wins and keep the RPI in the top 100. If we are 3rd our path to the finals is likely Manhattan (could be St. Peter's or Fairfield) Iona and Monmouth. That certainly will not be easy but we are 11-2 at home with two six point losses to the top 2 teams in the MAAC not to mention we beat three top 100 teams (Hofstra, UAlbany, St. Bonaventure) in our building albeit earlier in the season (I do believe Siena is a stronger team now than in December). There's also a chance Siena-Iona could be the "defacto" championship game if Monmouth were to be knocked off and that's not impossible the way Monmouth has played without Deon Jones. A lot of pressure on Justin Robinson to carry his team.

Why not pull the starters for a few minutes.? The reserves couldn't have given up any more points and may have scored as few as the starters.. . If there were enough time send the starters in for a quick wakeup cold shower. Great effort in making it a game at the end. Possibly would have won if all the calls which drew boos went Siena's way . After the lineup fiasco ref hands Brett the ball and he makes a heads up play only to be overturned. .Ensor at the game always makes me suspect Metro NYC bias. The one ref who killed the Saints in first half had a lengthy love in with Cluess. Something which must be changed in the rules.

Siena could be in a position to draw Monmouth in the 2 vs. 3 semi-final if Rider can beat Monmouth and Iona wins out. That could be the better draw for the Saints.

I think Monmouth would have to lose twice (Rider, Niagara) even if they go 1-1 and Iona goes 2-0 they tie at 16-4 - Monmouth wins the tiebreaker assuming Siena is third. They would have split but Monmouth went 2-0 vs Siena and Iona went 1-1.

BB heads up play basically showed the refs up. They had a way to call it back, was BS, but legit. Thought they kept tight rein on the game, as if someone told them to keep the tone low key so no extracurricular festivities came about.
