Team played scared in the first. So much heart in the second to fight back.
If we dont have another poor shooting nights it is ours to loose.
Quis and Nico will be fine.

There's no "issue" with them, but when 'Quis was out, Nico carried the backcourt, now......he isn't "the guy" anymore, and it's gonna take some attitude adjustment. I'm glad it's happening now, so the guys can used to their new roles with 'Quis back.
Did Kenny even play in the 2nd half?

Might be time to roll with our best 5 starters and starting line-up of the future... PG: Wright SG: Clareth SF: Long PF: Bisping C: JO Kenny, Oliver, Fisher off the bench..LaRose for some spot minutes In a one and done situation you can't afforded to get into these big holes so start you're 5 best players. Next two games are big...hopefully win them both and get some momentum for the tournament. Wright should have most of the rusty shaken off with two more games under his belt.

Imoh is a much better match-up against the Gaels. We need that rim protector so other 4 guys can go out and challenge their shooters, and make them put it on the floor.
They spread us out well and got whatever they wanted. Iona was better, and harder to guard, with Washington on the bench.

Did this game remind anyone of the MAAC tournament game last year against Iona? Fought back in that game only to see them knock down a couple of three's to take the wind out of our sails. Iona came out in this game and punched us in the nose and it took us a half to get back on our feet. We gave them too many open looks in the first half and we paid for it. Non existent defensive pressure in the first half and then lock down defense in the second half- hard to explain. I liked the fight we showed in the second half but too much to overcome-ran out of gas. I hope what comes out of this game is that our players realize that you better bring it for 40 minutes especially against the top teams or you'll be watching someone else hoist the trophy in March!

Candid presser. BB said it was the players. Believe they will be ready for FF.

Just saw the post game and half time interviews. Didn't see anything wrong with either what coach said at halftime or what Marquis said at the end of the game.
Second, just as we heard from Asst Coach Jordan I believe it was that sometimes it is just too hard to keep up the mental and physical aspect of it after fighting so hard to get back into a game. You end up having mental lapses that cause you to again lose that lead. Why not then already have it planned out in your head that if you do take the lead, then take a time out immediately after taking the lead? This way you don't lose anyone in transition, just as they did with English. If they beat you at that point, then they beat you; but at least at that point with 3 minutes left, if you do get beat, it wont be in transition with any mental lapses.
Finally, why go to zone at the end when Nico had been playing lock down defense on AJ? You can blame the players for losing him but why go to zone at that point against someone like English playing against you when Nico was having success against him?
I do like that this team never gives up. Hopefully coach will start to realize that the team he ended with and played a majority of the time with is the team he needs to start with.
Hope they come ready to play from the opening tip against Fairfield on Wednesday. It now becomes a huge game that they really need to win.

just finished watching the game. Ugly first half, beautiful 18 minutes in the 2nd half. Key play was missing English on defense ... could see it coming. Another key was the Saints passing up some decent shots late. Huerter was right on when he talked about Bisping and Oliver passing up on open looks on one time down that ended up with a turnover. The way the Saints rebound, sometimes you just have put the shot up and let your athletes go get it.
Saints did all this despite Clareth shooting 0-7 on 3's, many of them wide open. Everyone has bad shooting games sometimes, tonight was his. Otherwise, he played a really good game. The block on Roundtree was impressive ... and yes, it was the right call, he got a lot of body)
After 2 games with Wright, it's obviously going to take a bit for the team to come together but he makes them better. And, after two really entertaining games, you know the maac is hoping for a 3rd one in a couple of sundays.
Saints need to buckle down and get one this weekend to wrap up the 3 seed.

Wow it was like 2 different Siena teams in each half of the game. Wish they could have brought some of that energy of the 2nd half in the 1st. Nico was so pumped on D in the 2nd, I actually think he was too amped when he was on offense. Disappointing with just over 6K in attendance but man oh man did that 6K make noise in the 2nd half. The team's energy fueled the crowd. BTW does anyone know what happened to Enlish in the 1st half when he fell after making (of course what else?) a 3? I didn't see anyone run into him, but he went back into the locker room for a few minutes. Anyway it's on to Fairfield for a must win on Wed. Short turn around and the Stags have more rest, but that shouldn't be a factor with the importance of this game. If (god forbid) we lose Wed. but beat Quinny on Sunday is there any scenerio where we don't finish 3rd? Oh well as the saying goes JUST WIN BABY! GO SAINTS!

4-21 from 3. There is the game. Law of averages after 22 made 3s last two games.

4-21 from 3. There is the game. Law of averages after 22 made 3s last two games. It's funny, because Siena came into the game as a better 3-pt shooting team than Iona (38.6 to 36.2), so I guess Iona shooting .481 from there tonight, while we shot 19.0, was the abnormal stat that decided the game.

Seems to me we would be better off with the 4 seed. If it plays out right you avoid Manhattan, play Monmouth rather than Iona(w/o Jones they are a vulnerable team and not playing their best basketball right now) and get Iona in the final where the crowd will be the sixth man we need. Either way you have to get through Monmouth and Iona.
