yes thats the part Saintsfan left out-- they werent 25 footers--more like 30 footers--Nico is first guy we had that can guard English since days of Hasbrouck Ubiles.. yeah English scored 31 points..but he had to work for it..taking 26 shots to do it. Iona is deadly from 25 feet and in... force them out to 27 to 30 feet and not so much
And one final thought.. the loss doesnt go on Cluess-- Siena went out and WON that game-- Iona didnt give it away

Go ahead AJ. Go ahead and get your points. Holding AJ to 1.19 points per shot is pretty good considering Siena scores 1.35 on average and Iona 1.30. For the record, Siena scored 1.69 points per shot in that game. 81 points on 48 shots.

Long did not have a good game but his stat line was, to some degree, misleading. Just off the top of my head, one of his turnovers was on a catchable pass to BB that should have resulted a layup. It was a pretty pass. His charge late was a tough call, maybe not a great decision but if the call goes his way the game is over. Another "walk" was a bad call and took away a layup.
Oliver was not exactly having a great game either until he hit those 3's.
The two of them played their best when it mattered most.

Wow, though, that is a stat. Iona had a whopping 71 shots to Siena's 48...
That's 23 MORE shots than us...and we still won.
That's amazing considering we also outrebounded them by 14.

Saw that in the paper and thought it was a misprint no wonder why we killed them on the glass, lot of rebounding chances when opp shoots badly. And they were 8 - 30 from 3

That's why I don't like the matchup vs Iona. Margin for victory is too small. If Siena can limit turnovers maybe the shot difference wont be so high, Iona will still put up alot of shots. You have to shoot a a high percentage and hope they are below average.

So that's 18 possessions better than us. I'm not quite sure how they got their other 5 shots up? Maybe on tie ups and jump balls plus maybe they won the tip? I don't know, but ok, most of it makes sense.

Actually 23 turnovers Is going to lead to a lot of looks for your opponent As long as they don't turn into fast breaks, Siena can manage the game despite the heavy turnovers. Offensive fouls, travels, throwing the ball out of bounds all allow the defense to get back and get set. I would consider them "good turnovers". In a perfect world there wouldn't be any turnovers, but given that this team is prone to them, it's important to limit the amount of bad turnovers. I'd argue that i'd prefer a game with 20 "good" turnovers over a game with only 10 turnovers but they all turn into points. As I recall the game, the only fast break baskets that Iona got were times when they ran off makes and Siena didn't get back.

Again... Cluess point in the presser says it all. He told his team they needed to make X three pointers to win. The IQ of that team went out and tried to hit X 3 pointers LOL

Sometimes these coaches make the game more difficult than it really is.
