All I read during/after the Bucknell game was how stupid JP was for getting that technical for his huddle not dispersing fast enough, and how it almost cost us the game.
NOW, our head coach TRIES to get a technical, when we were down 12 early in the 2nd half, and according to Brett Bisping in this mornings paper, it "turned the game around, because it showed he had our backs."
I posted how good a move it turned out to be, and glad to see a captain recognize it. Kid missed both FT's too, so it didn't even cost us a point.

I can guarantee you if that went sideways with say a 5 pt swing (T and the ball) putting us down 17 and we lost there would be a slew of posters calling for Patsos head and hanging the loss in him.

It doesn't fit their agenda. It was a good time to get one, worst case it was only two points, Loyola had the ball.

I have to admit I cringed when I was listening and we get T'd up. Oh no, there goes the game! Is he crazy? What the??? And he pulls it off, no harm from that foul.

We got every call after that happened. Kids all stepped up too. Small instance, but shows the character of the team, and the head coach, have changed dramatically since last year. It's the little things that win OT games, and start deep comebacks.

It doesn't fit their agenda. It was a good time to get one, worst case it was only two points, Loyola had the ball. Worse case is a 5 pt bump in 35 seconds and going from 12 to 17 pt lead which would have been bad news and kept momentum in Loyolas favor. You just can't look at that and say it's just a T and they had possession anyway. Other factors (such as momentum) come into play. Got the W and Loyola did not capitalize on an opportunity, so the point is moot. I like the fight in this team, they will get better as the yr goes on.....

if one shot goes in do we lose? Tie game at end of regulation. Mistake or not they won don't care how they do it.

I think Nico showed he's not afraid to be the clutch guy. He's got a soft shot. I think Wright and Brett are great leaders. We haven't had that in a long time. Lavon shooting great from the line - a lot of positives in this game. The kids like each other and more importantly they like their coach.

It's the little things that win OT games, and start deep comebacks. HJ-the last 5 possessions Loyola had in regulation prior to Quis' block, the calls went against us. As a matter of fact, I felt it what was keeping Loyola in the game. Some of those calls appeared ticky tack to me. I'm don't know if Jimmy was trying to get a T earlier in the game but I heard what he said and it definitely warranted a T. Luckily they missed both free throws. If we lost by one in regulation and they had hit both free throws I'm guessing many on this board may have had a different opinion on Jimmy's T.

There is "good" T's and "bad" ones.. Jimmy has gotten both. The one against Loyola (and Rider last year) were good ones...team was dormat and getting whacked and lead to a big comeback win. Yes the FTs could have haunted us but they didn't and very possibly Siena doesn't wake up and make a run to comeback to win the game. Also it can buy you some calls when getting a questionable whistle. Now they are "stupid" techs too- UMass and St. Peter's games last year come to mind - both going into halftime allowing the other team to start the second half with foul shots in a close game and get momentum. Hopefully the days of those mistakes have been corrected of course anyone can slip up.

Surprised not more JP haters not putting their two cues in. While not totally happy with JP he seems to be calmer, coaching better and his recruits are performing. Everyone is entitled to an onion and it should respected. However don't blame JP f taking the position. He was offered it how many would have turned it down?

Well the T happened with 16 min to go,and we were down 12. The T changed the complexion of the game. It got our guys charged up and we made a run, and I felt like we got some good calls along the way. I don't remember anything that stood out to me where Loyola got a big break late?

Hey it’s not like Jimmy doesn’t ever do anything good. I don’t think he has been accused of being “stinky” Jimmy. His moniker is So-so Jimbo, mediocre Jimmy- we all hope he can turn that into as one wise poster said go-go Jimmy. I think most Siena fans are from Missouri when it comes to Jimmy—"show me". He is not going to B/S Siena fans and get through like he could at Loyola. This is big year for Jimmy and Siena .. as they say—so far so good

Ive never attacked him for getting a technical BUT.... this is one time it worked. There have been others where it has deflated the team. Props to him for recognizing a moment where it was needed. However, I dont expect the latter will never happen again. While i agree its not right to throw him under the bus every technical he takes... by the same token... its disingenuous to post a thread like this implying his technicals/behaviors are always acceptable.
