Watching Patrick drive to the hoop and seeing him dish the ball off really is exciting. This kid's going to make a difference in a few wins this year. With the ball in Wright's hands coming down the court with 15 seconds left, down one, Cole, Poole, Long and Bisping in the game, I like our odds. Of course Patrick has to prove he can shoot FTs. If he can't, Ryan's probably in there at the end. Actually Ryan's probably going to be in there anyways. It's really going to be interesting to see who the top 5 are in "crunch time" this season. Obviously it will somewhat depend on who's hot that night, but isn't it nice to have this kind of bench where Jimmy has choices.

I think Wright, Poole, Long, and Bisping are definitely locks down the stretch so guess it comes down to who steps up their FT% between Cole (68.8%), White (68.4%), and Oliver (66.7%). Gotta figure one of them can step up to 75%. If none of them can then it opens the door for Hymes but he really hurts you defensively.

If whoever the fifth player is or one of his teammates can make their FT's in crunch time, a player deemed a defensive liability can be subbed out.

I think a lot will have to do with the score of the game. Behind, and needing stops is one thing, and up and protecting a lead is another.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this plays out. Patrick certainly, at this time, doesn't seem to be the shooter that Ryan or Evan are. He certainly is a scorer and a great facilitator. With his size and skill set uniquely different, he is going to be an weapon in certain situations. White has proven, with his skill set of tough D and physical play, to also be a great 5th man choice at the end of a close contest. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Right now, I have to figure Oliver has the advantage in the close/late situations. He's not likely to make a mistake in a key situation cause he doesn't make too many as it is. And he keeps the floor spread so that the others can attack the lane better. The ball is probably going to be in Wright and Poole's hands late so you don't necessarily need Cole as much as you need someone who is not going to make a mistake at a key time. Plus, Oliver made a few clutch late game shots last year..
He's not likely to be fouled anyway...so FTs should be of little consideration. His sample size of D1 FTs is small. He was a 72-73% FT shooter in HS & Prep
It depends on the team your playing though and the situation.
The bottom 6 or so of the MAAC...we don't as much even need a center against. Wright, Oliver, Poole, Long, Bisping should be fine in most of those games. Those 6 teams don't have elite bigs...some don't even have serviceable ones. Long and Bisping would dominate inside on those teams anyway. You might as well go small.

We are BIG KK no need to play small. Our guards are BIG #Facts According to Kenpom's approximation, the Saints used a small lineup 74% of the time over the last 5 games. kenpom.com/team.php?team=Siena&y=2014

That was last season witbout Cole and very little JO. We now have a 6'5 guard that can run the pg position with DI experience. We also have 2 freshman that can earn time and one of them is 6'10 from prep school. Patsos loves size. We now have HM size in a MM conference. We will take advantage of that

We can go big and slower or small and faster. This is where the quality of our depth will come into play. Jimmy has said he wants to run and press for 40 minutes this season - last year we could not really do that. This team reminds me of the Paul Hewitt teams from the late 90's/2000 - a lot of really good players, maybe no superstar, but 9 or 10 guys who can do the job well without a big drop-off. MAAC teams will have a lot of problems with Siena's size. If we can shoot the ball better and average a win more PPG I think we win the MAAC championship.

Being big does not mean playing slow. We are big and fast.

We will take advantage of that Last 5 games minutes per game: Wright 33.8 Poole 33.6 Long 24.8 Oliver 27.4 Hymes 12.6 White 8.2 Cruz/Wilson 0.8 Total 141.2 40 mins times 3 guard positions = 120 mpg. That means that Long and White played 21.2 mpg (141.2-120) in a small lineup. That's really 53% of the game, not 74%. Wright and Lavon's shooting will again determine how much this team goes small...no other factor. That's it. Will bringing in Cole help the shooting? Probably not. 3 pt shooting or at least the threat of it has to come from somewhere or the lanes collapse into nonexistence. It's no coincidence that during the CBI run Oliver was playing major minutes (more even than Lavon) and we were using more '2 shooter lineups'. Ryan Oliver needs to be a major piece this year once again. If not him, then the shooting has to come from somewhere else. WB? Hymes? Paige? More Bisping? More Long? Somewhere...

We have shooters KK and not just from the smaller players. #PlayerDevelopment.
With JO back in the starting lineup we will continue to play to our strengths
Lavon was more of a matchup problem for Fresno at the 4 going againts their 6'6 wing that weighed 30 lbs less than Lavon. So we used that to our advantage. Thats how the season will go. Its all about the matchups.

He averaged 17 mins a game but finished the season with 12, 8, 6 and 2 minutes.
