Very good post by siena79. So true. Iona has lost guys Glover and Machado and didn't lose a beat over the last few years. I also like the fact he brought up the point of not turning on the team or coaches if the wins aren't piling up. Papi do you understand basketball at all? When Iona lost Glover they had Laury—when Iona lost Machado they had Momo… this year Iona is replacing 3 of their best players with a 6’4” power forward that couldn’t start in big South on one of the worst teams in the country, a banged up Amayo that hasn’t played more than 3 games his entire career and freshmen. The back bone of Iona’s team the last 4 years were the 4 year players that Willard brought in, guys like Machado, Fields, Jenkins, Smythe, Armand —to that group Cluless brought in a few high powered transfers like Glover, Momo Bowman—this year the high powered transfer is a 6’4’ power forward from big south that can’t shoot outside 3 feet. This is the first year of all Cluess/Grasso recruits—and it might not be as pretty as you think. If the MAAC was a game of 3 on 3 Iona might go undefeated – but it’s not and Iona is chock full of question marks when it comes to depth Tony I understand basketball quite well thank you. Keep telling yourself Iona has question marks. Iona is the team to beat along with Manhattan if you can't see that you do not understand basketball.

I'm not sure you do Papi- you thought Siena would win between 4 and 10 games last year-- never once did I see you admit how wrong you were.. not only were you wrong, you harassed posters such as MTS that had the balls to predict 16 or 17 wins. As for Iona Manhattan that's your opinion, and I think more than anything you post that crap hoping to upset some Siena fans- when most dont care what you think anyway- your agenda is very transparent --In the future when you like a post hit the like button and dont regurgitate someone else post to use as a opportunity to take shots at Siena fans-- wont fly here

I' d like the Saints to go undefeated but know there will be some losses. What bothers me is that some of the posters will be happy at the end of the year if they can say" see I said way before the season began that such and such game on a date in January or February will be a loss".It also bothers me that some have concluded that overall the team we support?? is at a deficit in terms of athleticism , speed and shooting ability against its competition. The MAAC does not contain any Kentucky's or Duke's that I am aware of . I have seen enough practices this year to know this team will be in the hunt for a MAAC title.

Tony and Papi should go to scrimmage tonight and battle it out at half time. Would be more entertaining than most half time shows

Ditto. While I know it's unrealistic and know you're kidding, I simply can't predict any losses since I never attend a game thinking we'll lose.

I was looking at last year's picks and I was only one game off for both maac and total. No surprise, I am that good :-) You've already picked Quinny right for 1st? I will say that I fear Quinny a bit if McLean is eligible and as advertised. They too, would have 3 of the best players in the league AND they would have better depth than Iona. If I decided flip my first place, it could be in Quinny's favor. The only thing they don't do well is defend the perimeter. I've repeated ad nauseum that I think Manhattan is on a downswing. They are building around mostly non-skilled but high level athletes...and are slowly going guard poor. Unless he knows stuff that every other coach doesn't with all these bigs, they could struggle. He's slowly Mitching himself in the foot.

I'm holding off on Quinny, but if everyone is eligible they might be my pick for 1st also. As far as I can tell Quinny is only team in the MAAC that doesn't have their 2014/15 roster up on their official website
As for Manhattan - I agree on downswing - they lost their 3 best players, I'm not sure many fans realize how good Beamon was, in my mind he was 2nd best player in league last year behind Baron. As of course Brown made Jaspers defense work, they could really over extend their defense with Brown back there, he erased a lot of mistakes, many times teams wouldn't even challenge the paint with him in there, he had uncanny knack of blocking shot without fouling. And we all know its not easy to lose your starting point guard. Jaspers dont have a single double digit scorer returning..I'm thinking mid pack for Manhattan

They have the most money and some of the best facilities yet they can't update their website, have an internet forum, or have any kind of advertising whatsoever. They should advertising the hell out of themselves right now. They could have the entire league on the ropes if they put the effort in. There's probably some people there that should be fired. I think WP even tried creating a forum for them. But nobody uses it. I really curious to get a feel on how Dingba is doing... Is he healthy? Nobody knows. Might as well be the CIA over there.

Agreed and I cant understand why so many are picking a loss at Rider smh we will sweep them for 3 more years

I don't know cause it seems like one of the tougher road games maybe... A team with 3 or 4, 6-3+ guys who can play solid PG could maybe be a tough out at their place. Sorry for trying to be realistic.
