Also not to play Devils advocate on this site of optimism however don't be surprised if the team gets off to a slow start. I'd be surprised-- only game in non conf that Siena will be any sort of underdog will be Umass- Bonnie and Fordham games are toss ups -- 7-2 probable. Anything less than 6-3 vs that schedule would be terribly disappointing

I expect us to compete in every game just like I expected last season but even mpre so now without any BCS schools on the list. I would also love to begin a 3 peat this season... if we dont win the bid everyone that watches the games will know why... #Competition Which is great and I agree. However the way that MTS was posting made it seem as if syracuse was afraid to play siena. Makes it seem like he thinks they'll win. Also not to play Devils advocate on this site of optimism however don't be surprised if the team gets off to a slow start. This is a Siena board. Why the stroking of Syracuse is needed goes beyond me. No one out here honestly thinks Siena is in Syracuses class as a program. We get it. The Orange are a top 20 program. They will bet us 95%+ of the time, regardless of the arena. Thats' what happenes when you get HS All-Americans the way this team gets kids from Maryland. Is Boeheim "scared" to play here? No, but he's smart enough NOT to, and instead play AT a Binghamton or Cornell instead for a 3-for-1. He should play a game here because of his programs connection to our AAU (City Rocks) team, and all the ties he has in this area over the years. It's good business, and it'll draw 15K+, (and half will be rooting for the Orange) to the downtown area that night. Hopefully he believes enough in his All-Americans, that regardless of how many seniors we have that one year.

Syracuse will play in Albany, but probably not against Siena. They'll use TUC as a neutral court against another high-major.

Shocking dipset is complaining! If you are OK with a bunch of upper classmen playing 2 AE, 2 PL, 1 Ivy, 1 CAA and 1 bottom feeder A-10 program, God Bless. Like I said, the exempt tournament better be a good one. Never once did it come out of my mouth I was "OK" with a weak schedule you POS! I bet when JP took this job he thought he would get 2-4 wins in year one, he never banked on 20. So he scheduled to build wins, now if we have this same lame schedule when the "new big 3" are seniors I will have a problem.

Has nothing to do with touting Syracuse it has to do with pointing out the dilusion in MTS statement. Which is great and I agree. Also not to play Devils advocate on this site of optimism however don't be surprised if the team gets off to a slow start. What objective signs have you observed that lead you to believe the Saints start off slow? There is a difference between a prediction and a warning. The team was 15-17 before the CBI last year (granted there were some very tough games early on), however I just wanted to point out that teams dont always improve upon hot starts to prior seasons. I think Siena will do well but the team is still full of mostly lower level talent who may need some time to continually adjust to the game (think sophomore slump) in addition to needing a kick in the ass although you have to like what Poole said about starting fresh and the CBI meaning nothing. This is not to say that I am not optimistic about the team because I am, I think they have more talent than they have had for the past couple of seasons.

Enough with the sisters of the poor, we see that enough in league play.

Back to the topic. I could see a Syracuse/Siena 2 for 1 series. They're friends, so I wouldn't be surprised if happens. At least a 2 for 1 sounds better than a 3 for 1.

I'd go for a 3 for 1 versus Syracuse, better than the 4 for none we just scheduled.

I'd go for a 3 for 1 versus Syracuse, better than the 4 for none we just scheduled. To call it a 4 for none is just plain wrong. If we did not play in the 2K or another exempt event, we could have played two more regular season games. You either play 27 games and take part in one exempt event or you play 29 regular season games, like this year. Without the exempt event, we would have presumably added one home and one away game, both of which would have been, in all likelihood, against teams at our level. So it's at worst the giving up of one home game in exchange for playing four games, two against high quality opponents, and pocketing some serious money. Don't get me wrong. I argued when I first heard the possibility of the 2K Classic and playing two games at Bryant that we should host those two games, I was told that the cost of the guarantee required to host is often more than Siena grosses from a home game. We need to get our attendance up and put ourselves in a better position to fund such home game opportunities.

Hard to believe.....and if it's the arena rent, I would have palyed it at the ARC. I can't imagine Bryant averages more than 4,000 a game.

Don't know why some people are getting so negative - those days are over.
We've got a great chance to win the MAAC not only this season but the two after that. We host the next three MAAC tournaments. Just about every school has financial concerns with the current state of the economy. Will the Atlantic-10 eventually happen? I think it does. And if it doesn't it won't be because of money up rather the inconsistency we've shown all too often (and the Big East not moving).
Jimmy gets a pass on THIS year's non-conference. Nobody (not even an optimist like me) could have seen a turnaround as quick as the program has had. I don't think some people realize how badly the previous administration (head coach) damaged our program. Jimmy took over a situation worse than Paul Hewitt or Fran McCaffery did yet arguably had a better first year then either of those former great Siena coaches did. Is he flawless? Of course not but I am very confident with him leading the Siena program into the future.
To say he's "building his resume" with the schedule - well all coaches do that. Every coach plays soft games (Fran scheduled a home and home with NJIT in the same season and Dartmouth) And yeah if we win big he'll likely be gone in 4-5 years. You hope the Siena administration keeps him as long as possible and for the first time I actually think we've got a competent successor on the bench in Greg Manning.
People were concerned about Patsos' recruiting. His top two targets were Wormley and Fisher. Boom. He signs them both. That is the sign of a good coach. People were worried about recruiting against other top mid-majors question answered getting Fisher. The staff have gotten most of the guys that they wanted (Paige, WB, Fisher, Wormley). Their first class already has produced two potential MAAC superstars in Lavon Long and Marquis Wright.
People were concerned about the schedule. I understand that. But he signs Hofstra to a four year series (JAM is going to have them very good as soon as this year) and gets us two big time opponents (Georgetown and either Duke/VCU) on national TV. He offered SU a more than fair deal - let's see if they bite.
It hasn't been this good to be a Siena fan since the beginning of Fran's second season. Patsos will get us being a top mid-major nationally again! Enjoy the ride!
Six weeks from tonight we beat UMass!!!!! #Cantwait #GoSaints!

I think we lost one of those about 149-0. Yes but that was also the game where Rod Owens dunked over Roosevelt Bowie. And Siena had a key stop at the end so the fans didn't get their free french fries or pizza
