Knick - I heard Siena was looking at the Diamondhead (or Puerto Rico) for 2015-2016? The Diamondhead would make sense especially with a game at San Francisco on the way to Hawaii. I know Jimmy mentioned playing in an extempt event every other season. Jimmy also mentioned starting a series with Towson in 2015-16. The schedule is good for next year... I'd like to see it loaded up in 2015-16 when the current freshmen (Marquis, Lavon and company) are juniors assuming we are still in the MAAC. If we are in the A10 we won't be permitted to play "guarentee games". I like to see a home and home with Fran and Iowa too. If Fran's contract had a home and home clause then Iowa has bought it out faster than you can say "schedule Siena". not for nothing, but Fran has no interest in playing Siena!!!!!!!!!

WCC fans would probably call MAAC and even certain A-10 opponents obscure too. But hey, it's a small Catholic university in a major metro area with a significant tech sector and tourism destinations. Why NOT San Francisco? And didn't the Saints hold a practice there while in town? It's possible Jimmy was just ruminating out loud and nothing will come of it. We'll see. Jimmy ruminates?

I think he owes us that much. He knows how hard it is to get high majors to play mid-majors, and didn't Hewitt schedule us at Georgia Tech? AS for GW and he and Mike being friends. EXACTLY. Friends like to stay friends in this business so they don't play each other! George Mason is a good game, especially for our recruiting trend. Makes the most sense. So does Towson for that same reason. San Fran makes zero sense, and he was probably caught up in the moment like bigsaintg said. I do think NC State will be in the mix in '16/'17, because it makes too much sense. I wouldn't mind seeing Brett getting a senior game somewhere in Illinois too (or that could be another good thing to come out of an Iowa game in '16)

Lonnergan played at Loyola when he was Vt coach and Patsos was at Loyola. They would definitely play each other.

A game in bmore makes since because of the freshmen getting a chance to play in front of family and friends. I also believe we will play Georgetown and or MD before the 4 years are up.

If Fran won't play Siena maybe PPC can use her Iowa connections?

Consideration should be given where Siena has large alumni base e.g. Boston, Philly, DC possibly Atlanta and Southern Florida too

Considering how the season ended, 14-15 offers a pretty weak slate of OOC games. A lot of AE, PL and low level A10. Hopefully 15-16 offers more intriguing matchups.

Don't think Jimmy anticipated how quickly we would turn it around this season. If you remember in Fran's second year we played NJIT twice and Dartmouth among others. Same thing a quick turnaround. Of course we did play at Stanford and at Maryland that year too. For one season it is fine. In 2015-16 I'm sure we will be going to an in season tournament with high-major programs and there is talk about playing a game at Georgetown in two years also. Let's just continue to pile up the wins and build on what we started at the end of this season. The team is still learning how to win. When the current frosh are juniors and seniors then you "load it up".

We're in a one-bid conference. I want a tough schedule that gets us ready for that one meaningful week in March. Nothing else really matters.

We're in a one-bid conference. I want a tough schedule that gets us ready for that one meaningful week in March. Nothing else really matters. I HATE that low-major mentality...it's all about three days in March etc. That's what Will Brown or these clueless media guys say. College basketball is a four month season. It's more than just a three or four days in March. MAAC teams have gotten at-large bids. It's very tough but possible. You have to be DOMINANT but it CAN be done. Fran's last two teams would have gotten them had we lost in the MAAC tournament. Plus you need to put up a good season in order to get a good seed in the NCAAs should you get into the big dance. Look at Rob Lanier's first year... bad year with a nice finish to it. A 16 seed (or PIG) and automatic loss like UA this year. Lanier's second year was much more successful overall but the team only went to the NIT. If you don't finish 1st or 2nd your odds of winning the MAAC championship go way down.
