How is that 6 seed looking now? Pretty damn good. Kind of wish we were there, but the boys need to learn to bring guns blazing so...

Siena didn't double him in any of the games they played. Most college teams don't double... they will go zone if a player is kill them or... double in paint/post. still pretty rare Ball hog. Was he a ball hog last year before Niagara got stripped of most of their talent by their outgoing coach?? Think the new coach knows Mason is his only player, and actually WANTS him to score the ball whenever he can? He shot 44%, which is very respectful for any guard. And getting to the line 324 times is ridiculous....in a GOOD way. IF he wasn't getting "special attention" defensively, then the individual that was covering him in all their games fouled out... EVERYTIME! ps---and teams play zone, like Spa Catholic, when one player shoots the ball a majority of the time? Hmmmmmmmm

How come all I read out here this year is how Poole is our only scorer, and constantly received "special attention" by opposing defenses? Mason had to beat "special attention" defenses all year because he's only guy on the team that can play. You're crazy if you don't think Mason faced doubles, shades and gimmick defenses from every opposing team he faced. You're insulting every college basketball coach in the MAAC if you don't think the #1 scouting advice against Niagara was to STOP MASON. So the kid leads the country in scoring most of the year, shoots 44.1 (English 40.8), and gets to the line 342 times (5th ALL-TIME!...4th after tomorrows game) he's doing something right, and definitely deserves to be on the 1st team over English (who got all kinds of wide open looks because he had the best teammates around him). I can only tell you these things, but I can't make you understand them

If you avg 25ppg in the MAAC you deserve first team honors, like it or not.

In regular season MAAC play:
AJ English Antoine Mason 18.55 PPG 22.75 PPG 4.65 APG 1.8 APG 3.95 RPG 3.05 RPG
AJ English responsible for at least 27.85 PPG for his team Antoine Mason responsible for at least 26.35 PPG
I think, in this instance, their stats are pretty damn similar. In my opinion its makes sense to give the edge towards the player on the (extremely) more successful team.

I honestly didn't know that the best players in the MAAC were only judged by their MAAC gaames. If that's the case, why don't they just put the MAAC stats next to each player instead of what they did all season? You showed Englishs' MAAC stats, what are the stats of the other 1st teamers? Plus he's been in the conference for 4 years, and stayed behind while his coach jumped sideways. English is a great playr, and had good stats, but he's only a sophomore. Same line of thinking as MTS' "career award" for Rossiter.

Well the MAAC coaches vote, right? Those are the games they've seen. It also considers equal scheduling/competition. It took long enough to look up English and Mason's MAAC stats, I thought it was generally decided that English was the "weakest" 1st Team selection so I chose him. You can look up the other three and report back.

The link I posted from MAAC site is conference stats only Got it, thanks Tony. Apparently a 20 point game was doubled up in my addition of English's totals, but Mason's is correct at 22.75.

If the media voted Mason is on first team... coaches are voting on impact though... I know Mason did not give us the fits that he might have given others for example.

Talking about Fts this year is crap. That's like comparing guys today to Jordan. Jordan would get his ass kicked as it was the only way to stop him. The game today is but a shell of what it once was. We keep changing the rules so everyone can be like Mike. The increased foul calls and rules preventing defensive players from playing D and you want to pimp his ft stats? If you can put the ball on the floor you just got a boost to your game this year... guys like Poole.. not so much. This is why siena really hasn't seen much of a benefit from the rules... they have hymes and that's about it for players who have the skill set to go off the bounce with any sort of consistency

So IYO who's the 2nd best scorer in the league off the bounce? BTW, these "new rules" applied to every player in the country right? But Mason not only led the country in the category, but was 4th all time.....and he's a GUARD!! The other guys in that FT group area 90% big men.
