What two games did Jimmy cost us this year KK? The games that hurt were Quinnipiac, UAlbany and Purdue in Orlando - maybe throw the road games of SPC/Monmouth in there too if you want. I think we lost all of those games because we are a young team that lacks experience and we also lack talent at certain positions. I think Jimmy put us in position to win those games and won 11 games to date. That is what good coaches do. We've been in just about every game. I'm not saying Jimmy is Rick Pitino but he's a good coach who to this point has done a very solid job with what he has to work with.

Next year.. PG Wright SG Cole SF Poole PF Long C. Bisping 6. Oliver 7. Silas/ J.O./Wolf 8. White 9. Silas/J.O./Wolf 10. PG Recruit Wishful thinking on your part- since it’s not right this year-- forget next year This year Poole-Wright- Bisping- Hymes Long- Silas- White – all get more minutes than Oliver ( #facts) Cole will most definitely be the biggest impact—he will get minutes -- JO and Wolfe are nipping at Oliver’s heels time wise.. we have a very talented Big man coming in this weekend for official visit that will get time if we sign him--- realistically Oliver is 10th or 11th man next year -- Best case scenario Oliver is 8th man next year—and that’s if JO- Wolfe and White don’t improve at all( highly unlikely ) take your green and gold glasses off.. I like Ryan-- he can shoot when set- he is not a good defensive player - cant take his man off bounce-- basically he can shoot 3's-- If Ryan was that highly thought of he would be getting mucho minutes this year --sorry if they upsets you-- but #facts are #facts

Some of those games could have been different. A few more minutes with 2 shooters here and there and they could have been different. SPU first half was mostly 4 non-shooter lineups. We allowed SPU to stay in it until they got hot. Almost lost Cornell and other games until he finally put Hymes back in as the 2nd shooter. We almost beat LaSalle because we were playing with 2 shooters a lot. Then he stopped using Oliver for a long time. There's a reason Hymes acts the hero in the last 5 minutes of many games this year. It's not all him. It's because that's when Jimmy gets frustrated after a huge scoring slump and goes small...with both Hymes and Poole in with Wright. 2 shooters.

I took time for Oliver to come around this year. I blame a lot of that on Mitch-along with the knee problem Ryan had. This was more or less a freshmen year for him! I think he is your first guy off the bench a year from now...especially if you need offensive substation!

I guess we agree to disagree here-- lets see who is right.Time will tell I may be wrong-- but then again I doubt it

No knock on Oliver but after adding Cole, Paige, Gottfried and probably at least 1 more recruit and the hope that JO, White and Wolfe make even a little jump, if Oliver is 6th man and playing lots of minutes the Saints will be fighting to stay out of the PIG again next year. Oliver's role would be to come off the bench when really poor shooting or injury/fouls dictate some playing time.

He's proven to be around a 30% type shooter at both levels. www.maxpreps.com/athlete/patrick-cole/E9USifTqEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/basketball-stats.htmCole is an attacker. Hopefully that's enough for us to be good. Otherwise we're in the same exact boat, only a year older. Paige may be a sleeper. Intriguing to me.

Next year.. PG Wright SG Cole SF Poole PF Long C. Bisping 6. Oliver 7. Silas/ J.O./Wolf 8. White 9. Silas/J.O./Wolf 10. PG Recruit PG Wright, Hymes, Gottfried SG Cole, Oliver, White SF Poole, Long, Paige/White PF Long/Bisping/Wolfe...Brandwijk C Bisping/Silas/JO....Brandwijk Silas will be the 2nd highest in both returning block rate AND returning rebound rate in the MAAC. Poole, White, Long, and Oliver will all be top 15 in returning rebound rate among guards. I like this a lot. I feel the bottom line is tremendous competition for playing time with JP having the ability to go with the "hot hand" (or "hot hands," with two shooters on the floor at all times) in any given game. Sounds exciting.

th24's line-up gives no time to Paige. I think he will play about 20 minutes a game and be a key contributor. Jimmy did not recruit him to sit on the bench, IMHO.

He has all the look of a good SF at this level. I wish I could see more of his 3pt shooting percentage. His stroke looks good. As a frosh at Middleburg, he shot 76% from the FT line and had a positive assist ratio. That was as a frosh. www.maxpreps.com/athlete/jimmy-paige/x5SILfTqEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/basketball-stats.htmAnd this limited sample backs it up further. www.d1circuit.com/roster_players/2664665He's athletic, has the moves, and hits his FTs at a good clip. The guards on his Cape Henry team are pretty damn good so it seems like he plays out of position as an inside out "big" for them. He could do with some more defensive effort, and maybe the assist ratio won't stand up on the D1 level, but he looks real good to me from what I've seen. Seems like a real solid SF recruit to me. I think maybe you're right about the minutes. Could also be that the only guy playing 30+ is Wright.

Interesting if Paige is getting 20 min a game—( I think he might get similar time to White this year say 15 min a game) and mark Cole down for 25 to 30 min—Poole for 25 to 30(he plays 33 this year) it doesn’t leave much time at 2/3…White plays more, scores more and is a much better defender than Oliver — and even a modest sophomore jump from White will widen the gap- going to be very difficult for Ryan to get much time next year – plus I expect Jimmy to go back to his staple D - man to man defense which is not a strength of Ryan. Please note I am not advocating anyone going anywhere- but it’s pretty easy to see Ryan’s time will decline next year and going forward..

I think the Common Core problems are becoming evident in SaintsNation (copyright applied for) - we have simple, simple math problems - there are only 200 minutes per game and 13 scholarships! To say nothing about how some fail to grasp the 5 personal foul and 2 technical limits that have some impact on game outcomes. I didn't dare bring in the issues related to algebra, e.g., G/F = 2,3 or 4!

Playing Time (X) = (Starting 5 - (who is hurt)- (who is sick)) + (who is a better "match-up" at any particular position that game) + (who is in Jimmy's doghouse) + (who earned a shot at it in practice that week) x ("eh, I just had a feeling he would have a good game")
