The prep school thing is really over the top for me because that is even more of an advantage than the reclass to max age..but they get a pass because it is their first year of college. .aside from Iona how many MMs have 20 year old freshmen. .I would think most that used the prep year do so to go higher. .if they prep and still end up at a MM they have challenges that caused them to max out

I am pretty sure that Hart is the only redshirt freshmen that was mentioned and he sat out due to injury. Don't think its fair to punish a player for being hurt and not being able to play. If we are going to nitpick then they should check and see if a kid was held back in school as some do, even as early as grammar school or if a kid went to prep school. If Wolfe would have been a redshirt this year then he would not have been eligible for any freshman awards? The award is what it is and that's freshman all-league and player of the year. And before somebody comes back with the reason Hart has multiple ROW awards because he is a redshirt freshman, he was a state player of the year his HS SR season and was hoped to have this same impact last year.

Its the run through of a year in college that gives the redshirt freshman an advantage. .you can only reclass to max age of not turning 19 before Sept 1st in public school while private schools make exceptions for injury if your appeal is granted..its unfortunate that Hart was injured but he def has an advantage as a sophomore over the true freshmen. ... going prep takes away the age requirements and allows those players another year to mature and makes the transition to college a little easier
