Don't think Siena is pouring millions into upgrading athletic facilities just to remain on top in the MAAC

Sad thing is I don't think it's their choice or not whether they stay in the MAAC......

Hockey Guy beat me the punch. If Quinnipiac puts a similar efffort in upgrading bball as they did in hockey they will shortly be contending for a MAAC championship. Great, but I think that's a bit off topic! Nobody wants to see Siena out of the MAAC more then me and Im certain that we stand a good chance for the 14-15 season but we have to use this year to get our house in order, purge players reload and recommit to being a solid program with quality kids. This entire Brookins fiasco and the issue with Burdine/Brookins last season is ridiculous. I hope Patsos can straighten this mess out because until then we don't belong in the A10. Our bid just went up in smoke, or it was stolen for gas and a hoagie.

Siena will be fine, and we will get into the A10-- everyone needs to relax. For now lets straighten out the program. From a structural POV ( Facilities, fan base etc) Siena is actually a much better fit than Davidson. But because of our record ( spotty at best) Davidson gets the nod. Siena's time will come and sooner than some of you think

I think that Tony's counsel should be heeded, lots has to shake out and realignment is still very much in flux. Is it the way we would like to have seen it play out, definitely not, but all the issues will be addressed and the ship will be righted.

Snag, I get the disappointment at the timing, but is being in the A-10 a prerequisite for having season tickets after we had MAAC tickets for years. Hey I want to go to the A-10 as much as the next guy and I think the A-10 move is a good thing, but I will continue my season tickets. The alternative is UA and the AE. I'll stick with Siena. I guess it could be argued it is a "protest" against the administration, but I still believe that the A-10 is still the goal and once the offer is made it will be accepted. I guess I am an optimist and I hope a realistic one. Patsos is a great salesman so I wouldn't bet against it. Bill, I appreciate and respect your comments. Perhaps I should explain myself a little. I've been a season ticket holder for many years. Longer than I'd like to admit (pre D1). When Siena joined the MAAC prior to the 89'-90' season (along with Canisius, Niagara, and Loyola), it was a solid mid-major conference. When Holy Cross, Fordham, and Army left a year later, the conference lost some of it's luster imo. When LaSalle left a couple of years later, it lost a lot. The MAAC has been on a steady decline ever since. When Rider and Marist joined in 97'-98' the conference took another step back imo. And now, Loyola is out and Monmouth & Quinnipiac are in. And in recent years tournament attendance has gone from over 53,000 to around 15,000. The fact is, the MAAC is no longer a mid-major conference. It is a low-major just like the AE and the Northeast. I used to have 6 season tickets. I reduced that to 2 during the Lanier years. The last two years, my seats have been mostly empty as I have only gone to a total of 4 games during that time. I'm not interested in watching low-major ball. So I will not be renewing my tickets. This decision has nothing to do with who the coach is or how good the team is, it has to do with the quality of the opponents. I'll still go to a few select games, and I will continue to root for Siena, but there is no way that I will be paying to watch the likes of Monmouth & Quinnipiac.

Do you think D'arg has reached out either directly or through back channels to the A10 or do you think he/the administration are truly taking a wait and see approach? If they aren't being proactive we are doomed to a life of low mid major mediocrity. If the way D'Arg handle the "Mitch issue" this year is any indication I doubt very much if he even knows what proactive means!

I understand your position, I have been with Siena for almost as long, and I see the same downward trajectory, which is why I am hopeful for a move to the A-10. But if I am going to go to college basketball in the CD it will be Siena and with only two tickets I guess that I chose to get the season tickets because I rarely miss any games even when things are as bad as they have been last year.

Snag.. I’m not here to tell you how to be a fan…you have to do what you think is right. I dropped my premium seats after( the coach formerly known as program wreckers) 1st year. Now that he is gone, I’ve renewed the seats. I too am concerned about the trajectory of the MAAC- which has been in a downward spiral for some time. But the best way I can support the team and make a move to the A10 possible is by renewing my seats. Plus I expect the games to be fun once again this year. We probably won’t win them all at home this year, but I’m guessing the team will be fun to watch, play hard and be "well coached" and as a fan that’s all I can ask for. I hope you’re there… but it’s your choice for sure – but the TUC will be rocking once again this year !!

I dont think that's fair 73-- everyone has to decide how they want to support the team. I see where Snag is coming from... personally I think he is gonna be kicking himself in the ass once he see's how much fun this year team will be to watch and he gets stuck in the nosebleed seats

Is there a chance that that the a10 invite hasn't come because theres still a small shot that Siena could be getting a big east invite? I think the big east will eventually be a 12 team league (6 east coast and 6 Midwest schools). There are currently 5 in the east and 5 in the Midwest. Maybe the a10 commissioner thinks that there could be some truth to the feinstein article and is going to hold off offering anything until the big east makes their move. I'm probably wrong... Lots of mental masturbation going on.

I also read that they wanted to go with two 6 team divions. If Dayton and st Louis are invited the balance is slightly off with 7 Midwest schools and 5 east coast schools. It would make sense that they pick only one of Dayton or st Louis and then pick one school from the east coast (Richmond? Vcu? Siena?).
