That would be a good idea, but that alone couldn't sustain it. How many concerts a year do they get there these days?

Indian82- It's been awhile since the Civic Center did not have Hockey, but from what I remember, the Civic Center did ok without it because they scheduled more concerts and events for people to go to. We'll see what happens up there. They have been trying to shut down East Field (Lumberjacks baseball anyone back in the day? Home to Glens Falls Golden Eagles college baseball and Greenjackets football) for a few years now, but have not succeeded. Maybe Jimmer will become a part owner of the Civic Center

The Knick obsoleted the Civic Center. It's just taking 20+ years for the chickens to come home to roost.
I was pretty young when Albany finally got its arena, but before that, I remember having to go all the way up to Glens Falls just to see the circus as a kid.
I don't like the circus.

I took my kids to the Bradley v Siena NIT game there. An incredible atmosphere. Hate to see it close.

I lived in Glens Falls during the Civic Center's heyday--early '80s. I still enjoy going to hockey games there when I get to the area. The City & Warren County will find a way to keep it functioning, even if they don't get a replacement for the Phantoms when the time comes. The symbolism of the Civic Center sitting and rotting would be too embarassing.
