while the excitement and enthusiasm is at a high level with Patsos in and around the program...................any reason we can't nab a spot in the CIT?.............seems quite possible under the right circumstances, and host a game...............welcome to Siena Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!

Don't see why not I think it's realistic...I don't expect an NCAA bid right away (would be nice though haha) but a winning season is possible and that potentially means a CIT bid. I also hope we stays in the Old Spice Classic... yes we probably would go 0-3 but the competition is good to prepare the program potentially for the A10 down the road and it's great exposure on national TV. Might as well use the MAAC before we leave 'em in the dust Haven't heard anything on the Italy trip so that probably will be delayed at least a year. Jimmy mentioned a lot of things had to get done in the next few weeks with scheduling, recruiting and with the team. He mentioned he wanted to play games in Boston and DC.

If Patsos brings in an impact forward, along with a high-level point guard, Siena will challenge for the MAAC title next season.

Let's get to 500 first. To me that is a more realistic goal, and it might not come next year.

Getting to .500 and getting to the CIT is the same goal. MAAC teams with winning records don't get left out of the CIT. There were four MAAC teams in this year's CIT, on top of the one each that went to the NCAAs and the NIT. Six out of ten MAAC teams went to a postseason tournament.

The NIT/CIT/CBI would be great for Siena next year- imagine schools having to go to Albany and playing in a real arena.

MAAC teams with at least .500 league records and at least 18-19 wins got to the CIT this year. If Patsos gets to that level next year he should be up for national coach of the year. Would I love to see it, absolutely, but let's not make it a benchmark. That is a herculean goal.

Filling out the CIT with real good teams is a challenge. Don't know enough about the OOC off memory to determine whether I think reaching .500 overall is feasible or not.

BM's opinion that it is a Herculean task to get to the CIT might be because of PTSD from the last coach. I think it is feasible especially if we can get a good recruit or two.

The NIT/CIT/CBI would be great for Siena next year- imagine schools having to go to Albany and playing in a real arena. NCAA would be a dream, and NIT would be a real tough task..........remember they run that event now like a mini-NCAA, you can entry be winning your conference but not getting the auto-bid through your league tournament OR you get at-large invites........typically, those at-larges are for teams with high rpi's.............so, from first glance, unless Patsos really has us clicking on all cylinders in year 1, might be tough to get to big dance or NIT, so a good goal would be the CIT field made up of mid-majors..........would give us something to build on for year 2 and positive momentum!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree – that CIT/CBI would be a good goal. .500 first, though. And a little more, I actually think it will be harder to get to the NIT (Basically have to win the reg season) than to NCAA (peak for 3 days in March).

I certainly am NOT discouraging speculative discussion - in fact that is something I often love to partake in. However, at this time I am taking a wait and see approach since we have NO idea what the team is going to look like. In a few weeks we should have a better idea and I'll be in then....

I agree with the goals, but wouldn't want to make them an absolute must. However, hopefully Siena can finish at least .500, as the school hasn't posted 4 straight losing seasons since the 1968-1972 campaigns. Hate to see Jimmy break a losing record in his first year :-)
