I agree Tony. This guy has energy. And he is clearly not a bullshiiter. I can see why this guy can recruit. I love the energy and the enthusiasm.

Man, I wish I was still at the school. I would love for him to walk into one of my history classes back in the day!

That was one heck of a press conference. Wow is he charismatic. Super refreshing to have a straight-shooter whose honest and self-depricating. I loved it when they asked him if Siena was his dream job, and he just said, "No. Maryland is my dream job."
Reminds me a lot of Jim Valvano.
If he can turn this program around, this guy is going to be beloved in Albany. Of course, if they lose, his personality is going to rub a ton of people the wrong way.

I agree he sounded a lot like Jimmy V. He's more than just basketball history, politics and just life in general. "I want to go to the Final Four"...who knows how realistic that is (A10 would help) but I want a coach who wants to shoot that high and who doesn't have a defeatist attitude. Why not Siena? We got all the resources to be a top mid major nationally and once you get to the NCAAs anything can happen.
More and more I think about it Jimmy's the right man for the job. Time will tell how successful we will ultimately be but props to Fr. Kevin and D'Arg for getting Jimmy to Siena.

Watching YNN and after presser Marisa Jacques asked about Jimmy’s statement on how he wanted to win, he wanted to be next Butler or VCU and D’arg answer was ‘we want a coach that’s shoots high’ a coach who doesn’t make excuses about everything or says OK but to do that you need x y and z..hmm wonder who he was referring to

An interesting name to me that he brought up was Kevin Plank, CEO and founder of Under Armour.
Presently I don't believe all Siena teams are outfitted by the same company.
I think aligning yourself with one company, especially one like Under Armour could help grow the overall Siena brand.

Pretty sure Under Armour was founded by a Maryland grad. Did they supply Loyola and does Siena have a particular outfitting contract now?

Yes, Loyola is UA (Under Armour). That's the thing about Loyola, he had all the local celebrities at games. Juan Dixon, Walt Williams, Lonnie Baxter, Kevin Plank, BJ Surhoff, etc. In Baltimore those people are well recognized. Loyola became the happening place to be.

Siena basketball uses Nike. That's where we get those goofy bright green sneakers.
Loyola uses Under Armour.

please tell me what moron asked him that question!? Leaving aside whether or not he's a moron, that was Mark Singelais' question. Mark loves to ask questions that trip people up. There's almost no good answer to that question.

There's almost no good answer to that question. A guy basically makes a lateral move (MAAC-to-MAAC) and one of our genius reporters at his first presser, asks him if it's his dream job? How would you categorize him? Wow......

Actually Patriot to MAAC. Jimmy addressed that move. He said if Loyola stayed in the MAAC he might not be at Siena.
