Here is the TeamRankings Siena predictions update as of this morning:
• After losing to Xavier 80-55 yesterday, Siena is now projected to finish the regular season 14-16 (9-11 MAAC). • The odds that the Saints make the NCAA tournament are 3%, unchanged since yesterday. • We currently rank Siena as the #302 team in the country, and the #9 team in the MAAC. • Next game: Mon, Nov 25 vs. #226 Miami (OH). Our power ratings give the Saints a 34% chance to win.
I remain optimistic that the Saints will be better than this as the season progresses.

They should finish mid pack or better. They should have a winning record in the MAAC and overall as well. A big jump for the disaster last year.

Siena will finish either first, second or third in the MAAC. There are no power teams in the conference this year — maybe Marist or Quinnipiac will edge us out. But this team has shown they can score and they can play defense … and they’ve got one of the best coaches in the country.

I think McNamara will be a very good coach down the line, but to declare him "one of the best coaches in the country" at this stage of his career is "just a bit" hyperbolic to say the least.

Eh, Iona is dangerous if they figure things out and Merrimack is really good...

Massey has Rider at the top then a drop to Quinnipiac and Marist at #2 and #3, St Peter's next at #4, then 5 through 9 really close with Iona, Merrimack, Siena, Mt St Mary's, and Fairfield. Then big drop down to the bottom four (Niagara, Manhattan, Sacred Heart, Canisius). Siena lucks out that they have two games each against the bottom 4 so go 8-0 there and you just need to go .500 against the rest to put them right in the mix. Only have to play Rider once which is nice although it is on the road.

Possible but even really good Siena teams had some difficulty sweeping the Western trip and split with every top tier team is equally as difficult. Given the state of the MAAC anything is possible good or bad. I’m hoping for a top half finish at least. Anything more than that would be a plus. And of course anything can happen in Atlantic City.

It won't be easy but when you get 8 games against the bottom 4 you have to take advantage of it. Go 8-0 in those games and you even got 4-8 in the rest and finish 12-8. Every loss to those bottom 4 just puts that much more pressure on all the other games when it comes to final standings.

I think most long time Siena fans have gotten over the shock of what has transpired with our beloved program. We have to deal with the reality of rebuilding the program and have some patience with our new coaching staff. I'll be at the MVP for every game cheering these kids and the coaches on. I am expecting to see a few things. 1) positive attitude from players and coaches for the entire season. 2) player development. 3) team cohesiveness. If GMAC can survive this season with minimal losses from our top 6-8 players we should be able to expect better days ahead. In GMAC WE TRUST !!
