I feel like the mens pick is an obligatory low pick for a first year coach. That said, aren't most of the rosters hit with substantial turnover? I'm not sure how the coaches make the picks nowadays. It used to be a) how did they do last year and b) who carried over. Sure we did crappy last year but this roster looks decent. I have no idea how we will do but 9 seems low.
Good for the lady Saints. It would be nice to see them do well.

No pressure on GMac now. Only can go up from Carm. Win the league and get to tournament could lead to one and done.

The administration didn't just spend however much buying Carm out and bringing in a top young assistant for no expectations. Frankly, in today's environment, given the turnover on every team and the fact that there are no HOF-caliber coaches to compete with in the league there's no reason any team can't be #1 on a given year. The days of the dynasties are history...or at least, a coach needs to redo it every year. The odds of recruiting a set of superstars as freshmen were always long. Doing it now and having them stay is almost impossible. And that's even for the blue bloods.
Based on a comment I heard GMac make late last spring, I don't think he plans on being a lifelong coach like his mentor if things stay this way. If that's true, look for him to make the quickest possible exit for the big dollars. Not a knock on him. The current situation is brutal and IMO unsustainable.

Speaking of GMac, did anyone go to Wednesday's GMac/Boeheim event? I'm surprised nobody's commented.

Ticket was $200, right? I'm more in the $20-50 range (on the outside) :-)

New coach and new roster no surprise we were picked 9th.
I expect we'll find a way into the top 6 which gets a bye to the quarterfinals.
Can we finish better than 6th? That depends on a lot of things.

Watch out for Merrimack in the men's this year. Very talented. (You can see my preview in MAAC and around the NCAA for rosters) A lot of Quinnipac and Marist roster is the same too.
Interested what Jerry can do...I just want to see improvement. Carm had too many times where he peaked early and then the team would play badly after. (Not last year...other years)
Can Siena avoid injuries? This group of kids seem frail. Hope the friars are praying for their health.
It would be great if the ladies could win the MAAC this year. Hope Primm learned a lot from Jabir.

KenPom has weighed in. Siena ranked 330. Highest MAAC team is Quinny at 193.

KenPom has weighed in. Siena ranked 330. Highest MAAC team is Quinny at 193. There was a time when there weren't even 330 teams

KenPom has weighed in. Siena ranked 330. Highest MAAC team is Quinny at 193.[/ Kenpom's pre/early season rankings are based primarily on last year's data. In the current era of "total roster adjustments" I wouldn't take them as necessarily predictive of future results. That said, until we see the team actually play a few games we will not know what talent level McNamara has to work with. Sight unseen I think based on the potential of the new coaching staff things are looking up.

Mr Murray. Glad to see you have positive thoughts. I have been at two practices. WE WILL SUPRISE MANY. The you group commons in next year look even better. Jerry Mac is realistic and will cope with the new realities
