Jackson actually started 18 of the 20 games he played last year. He's not much of shooter. His game is getting to the hole, and playing tough defense. Nice 3rd guard. He might not be a great shooter but he knows only to take them when he's going to make them. His 41% would have easily led Siena last year. The entire team only had 4 guys that even shot 30% from 3 last year.

This program is used to their guards being scorers. He's a solid 3rd guard. Love his defense and intensity. He's just not in the mold of scoring guards we're all used to, so we have some more work to do.

I think Jackson fits that mode.

And then some, he might be limited offensively but unlike Billups he is extremely efficient. Not saying he's going to be the lockdown defender that Billups was but he can be a significant piece if given that role and does a lot of things better than Billups. I hate to temper enthusiasm around here but we were 4-1 million last year so there is a big rebuild happening. We saw with Tobin and Iona last year that it is difficult to wave the magic wand and make that happen immediately. I expect a much improved team that will compete for the MAAC Championship but we need a few years of that and the NIL money that comes with success before we are looking at A10 level talent. I think the approach that Gerry is following of getting the glue guys early while shooting for the stars is the best approach. Just hope that people aren't too upset if none of those shooting stars land in Loudonville.

What we really need now is a top tier PG, a couple more 3 pt threats and for those coming off injuries to stay healthy.
