I honestly don't think our admin or fanbase could handle Patsos and vice versa.
I was at a MAAC tourney game at the TUC like 4-5 years ago and he was looking to fight some fans heckling him.

I remember that-- hope he understands and appreciates the expectations here. He has also made some questionable comments in the media regarding his ability to compete with good teams.

Boogie... you don't think the admin or fanbase could handle Patsos? I am hoping someone other than Patsos is chosen, but your comment has given me the opportunity to respond. I think Patsos would bring great vitality and passion to the program. That is what is needed here. Leaders with passion and vigor are whats needed in a college program.
So... my "rant"
Dan Cuhna was the greatest Coach in all of Siena Basketball. He lead the team to the Catholic National title. I am one of the few old enough on this board to remember him. I played for him. If he had TV........I cannot think of all the politically incorrect things he might have said or the impatience he may have shown to anyone who thought we should not win NOW.
That being said, I want a coach who brings Fire!
I remember in practice one day, we were doing drills and a player came up behind Dan and startled him. Dan said "Hey, XXX, (GS) why don't you tie a bell on your Prxxxxck so I'll know when you're coming!!! ok, sorry,... but that is what we need, not an arms crossed guy, not someone who is glad to compete, but rather, someone who might even throw a chair, someone who has enough self confidence to do what it takes to win.
I will quit now, but I will add that I am spoiled. A few years ago when Fran was coaching in one game we had trouble getting the ball in bounds and turned it over 3 times. the 3rd time I yelled, Fran!! tell these guys what to do!! I did not know that Margaret (Frans wife ) was seated directly behind me. She yelled at me "Shut up, it is not Frans fault!!"
Ah, for the good old days.
Lets Go Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A66 you are alright in my book and I agree with you especially with regard to getting a coach with passion. I want passion as well, but I also want class. Something I thought we had with Fran. Patsos to me isn't the man.

Haha A66, that's good stuff..
I was just simply stating that I see our fanbase tends to be a bit reactionary. In Bmore with pro sports and larger colleges taking up the big headlines, the downsides of Patsos would fly when we are not doing well. I also believe the Men's Basketball Coach at Siena is the most recognizable figure on the school payroll. Having him wacking back bottles of wine at a restaurant with the team might get a good laugh out most of us, myself included, it's not good behavior.

I am with Boogie on this one. I think Toole or Rhodes can bring discipline (needed) and passion with a higher potential ceiling. Patsos has a past performance record that equates to mediocrity with a 'sideshow'. I'd rather roll the dice on a younger candidate with a whole lot to prove and the big BCS brass ring in his sights down the highway.

Patsos was a national laughingstock after the Stephen Curry debacle. Let's not forget the time he decided to watch one of his own games from the stands - in the middle of the game. He has been a head coach 9 seasons, and in that time not a single other school has shown interest in him...except Siena. Let all that sink in for a moment.

I have no interest unless Siena plans on staying in the maac. I believe we are A10 bound..and probably within the next month we get that invite. Thus a new and fresh start with toole is the way to go

I guess when Patsos is named you guys will react like you did with when Mitch was named and will be all doom and gloom. Time for you guys to find a new team to root for. My suggestion is Syracuse, they shit sweet 16's. now on to the elite 8.

Let's take a gamble on a younger guy. I like what Toole could bring, Rhoades is a little more of an unknown - at least for me. But if he has anything to do with 'Havoc', I could buy into him.

papi and sienadan must be part owners in Barcelona. What's your love affair w/ this guy. Nine years and not even a sniff from another school. Gotta ask yourself why. He's an ok MAAC level coach. Not someone who can help us on an A10 level and there is no doubt in my mind that's where we are heading. The MAAC added 2 teams and I find that strange, almost like they prepared for another departure in advance.
