Carm mentioned being in meetings about who we’re playing next season, and scheduling. That got me 🤔 thinking about next year's schedule.
Looks like the OOC home slate is going to take a hit. Help me out if I miscalculated anything.
With the addition of Sacred Heart and Merrimack, confrence scheduling increases by 4 games. Making an assumption; there are no defections and MAAC scheduling continues to includes a home and home for every team. 24 confrence games are included in next year schedule.
With a maximum of 31 games, that leaves 7 games for OOC and MTE.
Saints have the follow on the books.
Away game: Albany (game 3 of 3) *Holy Cross (game 3 of 4) home or away.
Home: American (game 4 of 4) *St. Bonnies
Placing the Holy Cross game in the away slot for this year. With the American contract ending, Saints fill a home game next year with HC in year 4 of that contract.
Total games so far, 27. with 13 home games.
This leaves 4 games to schedule, with at least 1 more home game: At 27 games the team can schedule 2 more OOC games and a 2 game MTE Or schedule 1 more OOC game and a 3 game MTE
I'm going to guess that Siena returns for the Mohegan Sun MTE next year. This event usually has 2 game per team.
This leaves 2 more OOC games to complete the schedule.
* St. Bonnies series should continue, and would be 1 of the 2 needed game to fill the schedule - and most likely the 14th home game.
One more away game at a team in any of these confrences. Any Ivy Any Patriot Any CAA
I wouldn't be suprised to see a D3 game at the ARC next year. The D3 game won't count toward our max total of 31 games.

Hate to say it but if St Bonaventure was already looking for a potential out of the home and home format for the Franciscan Cup series then this year may provide that, especially if Carm is coming back next year.

If the MAAC still has 13 teams on July 1 there will be teams that only play once. Right now we have— Home: St. Bonaventure, American, Brown Away: Bryant, UAlbany, Cornell I think the Holy Cross series is over but KnickSaint would know better. So we need 3 more games or 1 more game and a MTE.

Seriously, who cares? Siena has NO FUTURE without a dramatic change of direction. They cannot schedule anyone of significance in the basketball world. The future is not what you call bright!

Wouldn't shock me if it ended up being LeMoyne. The schools have a past on the D-2 level. Quick trip for the visitors coming to Albany. This area has a decent LeMoyne alumni base and this is a game D'Arg thinks Siena may win.

With a 13 team conference I would expect the model to be 8 teams you play twice and 4 teams you play once each year to maintain a 20 game conference schedule.
Teams will rotate on/off annually in terms of playing once versus twice. Maybe some teams will have protected rivals that always play twice, though not sure that is necessary at our level.

How low will the MAAC be rated next season? No $373.00 season ticket for me or the $120 I spend on Girls softball! GO SAINTS!!

Went to watch Siena baseball play Stony Brook in the first of a 3 game weekend series. Siena baseball is now 0-10. D'Arg really has things humming.

This area has a decent LeMoyne alumni base and this is a game D'Arg thinks Siena may win. The lines are becoming blurred between the NEC and the MAAC anyway… it’s not long before financial constraints cause a few programs between the 2 conferences to reconsider D1 and realignment causes a few defections. I think the 2 conferences will eventually merge and rebrand into what’ll be an even weaker version of the MAAC as we know it today …. Welcome to the NEMAC.😉

Seek one to the NEMAC.😉 I also don’t think the NEC is long for D1. Could see the MAAC absorbing the NEC teams that want to stay D1 and maybe half the conference goes D2 or D3. I think there’s going to be some conference consolidation in the future.
