I'll admit, Courtney is playing better than I thought he would. He's still not the guy that plays point on a top-3 MAAC team. Neither is Winters. Courtney Mason does not belong on a D1 or D2 basketball roster. He should be playing intramurals in the Arc. He is the posterboy for why the program is closer to folding than it is playing in an NCAA Tournament. This isn't true or fair. He's a good walk-on at the D1 level. He's out there working hard, it isn't his fault that Carm didn't get enough scholarship players ahead of him and can't recognize that when guys like Courtney are playing he needs to go zone.

Would you like me to start posting his low-lights from this season? Tripping over his own feet, throwing two handed passes behind his head, getting crossed up multiple times per game, getting his pocket picked, being too scared to bring the ball up the court....it's not a pretty video. He is a textbook Try Hard and he is being enabled by the idiot head coach. Siena will not be a viable program until this kid - and every other kid like him - is at another school. If the kid is given a scholarship, I may burn down the ARC myself.

I agree that it would be a terrible decision to give him a scholarship. But as a walk-on being asked to do way too much that's not his fault, that is the coach's fault.

Just in general, is there a reason Carm does a pay 1 / get 3 with these guys when he's got open scholarships? I've only seen that in the past when the 'ships were full.

We'll never know because no walk should ever play 36 minutes a game. He'd be a nice NE-10 player. I see kids like him all the time on Bentley, St Anselms, etc.... And agreed, this is NOT his fault. Its Carms.

Pitino a couple of days after pulling a Carm and throwing his players under the bus…. “I should never, ever mention a name. I’m a veteran coach. l tell every young coach in the business: Show class when you win; show class when you lose; give the other team credit,” said Pitino, who also apologized to any St. John’s fans that were upset by his comments. “I’ve been really, really frustrated this year for a lot of different reasons. But understand something: I recruited this man [Jordan Dingle], I recruited this man [RJ Luis]. My staff did not recruit these guys. It was all me. It was all me, and I’m really, really proud to have them. I totally apologize to them for doing that. I wasn’t ripping them. That wasn’t my intent. But words matter.”

Another opportunity by Siena for refusing to give Pitino a chance!

This is where some of you are lost. Courtney hasn't earned a D1 scholarship - he shouldn't even be on the roster. He has no talent that translates to a D1 basketball program - he is playing a ton of minutes for a 4-22 team, and getting lit up every time he is on the floor, because the head coach has some hardon for him and his father. He is the poster boy for what Carm has done to the program.

CM as a walk-on is fine. CM as a starter and rotation player is inexcusable. The team's record and his season stats back up that position. Always great to have a local kid or 2 on the roster. This roster is a complete failure any way you look at it.

This roster is a complete failure any way you look at it. The success or failure of any team is it's record. The record confirms total failure. There is no other way to look at it, unless you are in a modified program where being on the team and experiencing teamwork and community is the goal and not the competitive record of wins and losses.
