Kudos to Michael Ojo for his breakout performance today: 14 pts, 4/4 3pt, 2/2 FTs, 6 reb, 3 blocks, 1 assist, 1 steal and 0 TOs in 24 minutes. Hope we see more of that and a lot less of Gribben, who has not had a game like that in 2 years.

Box score says 5,730 attendance. They must all be in the bathroom or getting a hot dog.

For the first time in a long time I thought the players played hard and with pride. There simply is not enough talent on the team to win games. Eley was amazing today despite being still banged up. He showed he is all-MAAC talent. Really starting to like Ojo and what he brings to the game. I thought he set the aggressive tone for the Saints. He has a huge upside and hope he sticks around for 4 years so we can see him develop. There are a few good pieces but too many not good enough and Carm is not a good enough coach to string together wins for this group. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out, who stays and who goes when it is over.

Agree-Ojo, Gio, Eley and Shaun are the 4 you would prefer to build next years team around however it is unlikely that 2 or 3 of these will be with the program next year. We could have won todays game if we had a point guard that could have gotten us in our offense and had the ability to beat his man off the dribble and create open looks for Shaun and Eley when the defense collapsed in the paint. What we saw at point guard the last 5 critical minutes was painful to watch. IMO it cost us the opportunity for a W. In the MAAC, point guard is the most critical position to fill. Without one, watch this years team and see how impactful it is. The kids played their butts off but talent usually prevails in the end.

Listening to the radio on the way home from the game, Andy I thought put it on the line. He said Siena has never not honored scholarships for kids after a disappointing year. He said flat out, some of these kids have not worked out, they disappointed, and have not met expectations. He said Siena followed the wrong model. He said the model Siena followed was to bring in HS kids and develop them over four years. He said that model no longer works, and cited what Rick Pitino did at St. John's and Iona as to how you build a roster. Further, he said Tekin was a human turnover machine Friday night. Sounds to me as if Andy reads this board!!

I highly doubt any of the 4 you listed will be back. Why would they? There’s no penalty to leave. The players you’ll see here; Carm’s bargains Courtney Gribben Iceman Coyle Winters etc….

They were never D1 in the first place. That’s on Carm. Insinuating they disappointed is just more Carm throwing kids under the bus! Failed to meet expectations my a$$. I can’t tell you how much that irritates me!

The primary issue isn’t that Carm recruited high school kids, it’s that he recruited a group of players who aren’t D1 players.

It’s not our fault because the players didn’t live up to expectations. Horrendous spin!
