Point was simply that if you’re going to take a kid that you know you’ll have to hold onto for 3-4 years, he can’t be a flier. Gotta be convinced he’s good enough. A little easier right now for us to take a grad kid, freshman or international if it’s just a dice roll. Time will tell. I think we’re more likely to fill the last spot now than we were two weeks ago. Oh, I agree with all that, but getting the POY in Illinois isnt like winning it in Vermont. He must be able to play a little but. Im sure he got a lot of MM interest, but was hellbent on playing at he HM level so he went to Iowa as a PWO. I watched the link 1Injun provided. He's decent. Def belongs on our level. Knows how to score the ball, and always seems to be in the right place when the ball comes off the rim. Good size and def a combo guard. Lets put it this way, if Tekin turns an ankle, I wouldnt mind having this kid as an option for a couple weeks. Im not sure we a better option on the current roster. Probably see Evbagharu play the point. He did it during FIBA. But yeah fill the last scholarship. With not knowing if Owens will play and the small chance that Durugordon becomes eligible, it would make me feel better.

One concern I would have is he’d be a four-year commitment. It’s getting very hard to run off transfers, so if he’s not good enough he’s years of dead weight. Sure Fran will shoot us straight if we pursue The glass half full side of that argument is if he did pan out he is less likely to transfer and you could have a 4 year player.

Any chance that the Siena AD has an archaic policy where you can't recruit spots unless you have someone graduating to replace? If that is the case and they don't want to run off bad recruits then the open scholarship makes a lot more sense.

Why exactly is it harder to run a kid off?

Why exactly is it harder to run a kid off? Because the kid probably has to sit and has fewer options

Why exactly is it harder to run a kid off? Because the kid probably has to sit and has fewer options If Owens, Coyle, or Birggison want to walk then they are free to do so. Pretty much no one on the Siena roster that would have to sit a year. Carm picked everyone on this roster. If he can't finish ahead of Tobin with 1 returning player then we've got serious problems.

Austin Williams to Rutgers The 5th year guard we had no interest in 2 months ago? Ughhhhh Makes sense for Rutgers since they lost Mulcahy and Spencer. Luckily we have no scoring to replace. Let Rutgers have another August headcase. Thats all thats left out there anyway. Ask SF.

Latest on the Iowa board is that Nimmers left Iowa and has gone JUCO at Indian Hills.

Which is why he should have stayed at Siena if he wanted to develop his offensive game. At Siena he wasn't going to get benched for taking bad shots. At George Mason not only do they have more talent to replace him with but he's also used up his free transfer so has no leverage. Poor shot selection at George Mason and he will quickly be told he needs to accept his role as a defensive stopper or hit the bench.
