One-time Jamion Christian recruit is in the portal - again. One year at Virginia Tech, one year at GWU and one year at Oklahoma. With the extra year for COVID, he has a chance to play at five different schools.

Wish Girard would do the same as Platek, come home for 1 year!

Siena is the right level, but three schools in three years is a BIG red flag. Doubt he is an option.

Wish Girard would do the same as Platek, come home for 1 year! The difference is Girard was actually a functional high major player.

I guess we are better off with Tekin instead of Girard or King. Did we not learn anything from these last couple of years and our lack of depth?

I don’t think either is going to a MAAC team, but my initial point was that I would take Cormac Ryan, another 5th yr ACC guy who is transferring and also from NY. Good shooter, rebounds well and competes every possession/every play on both ends of the court. I just like his all around game more than Girard’s.

Dynamics are changing & will take awhile to settle in … 4 year “impact” player will soon be an exception rather than the rule: 2 years and 1 year probably be the majority on roster with some 3 year in the mix.
Freshman probably 2 years or 2 years + redshirt year
Portal players 2 years (players moving up or moving down level of competition) or 1 (grad students looking to pile up minutes final year or are from area or close by)
This is just conjecture and perhaps most of the movement was due the Covid 5 year plan … would seem should be fewer grad students unless they redshirted as underclassman

The difference is Girard was actually a functional high major player. I would take the Notre Dame kid, Ryan, over Girard. Girard is a bad shot waiting to happen. I have a better chance of founding my own college, it gaining all the necessary accreditations, receiving an invite to the MAAC, and winning the league in year one than we have of landing Cormac Ryan or Joe Girard. Any player who is a quality rotation player already at a high-major school is not coming to Siena or the MAAC unless they are related to the coach. Let’s be realistic about actual potential targets instead of wasting air wondering why a kid who scored 1600 points at Syracuse would come slum it on busses so his family could drive an hour to home games instead of two. Seriously. If the kid is interested in coming home, we will know about it and begin the process. But there is no sales pitch to be made on our end and the idea that the staff should waste its time trying to sell Joe Girard on Siena instead of actually recruiting the transfers we need to help win the league next year is absurd

Remember what Billy Baron did at this level? Girard would do the same. We have no shot at landing him.
