Albany will take an ass kicking to duke.. and Iona is no Siena aint nio way they beating Ohio state in Dayton...basically a home game for Ohio State
If Albany can lose by say 15 points or less Dane fans might say its the greatest college basketball game ever for Capital district team..LOL
On another note Committee put a lot of good mids against one another --guarantees to weed out the mids..strategy they have used last few years

I don't know it seems like a good matchup for me for Albany. They get an extremely overrated Duke team that typically struggles in the first round. Plus, it is closer to Albany than it is to Duke. Hopefully the Albany fans pack the place and get a little help from the locals. Iona is going to get its ass kicked the MAAC stinks this year.

I don't think Duke is overrated as a 2 seed at all. Especially when their kids are healthy. That said, the top seeds this year, overall, are not as dominant as has been typical. This is as wide open a tournament as I can ever recall.

After losing to Lehigh last year there's no chance Duke will take UA lightly. And while Mike Black is good he's not C.J. McCollum. Gaels have a tough match-up... Ohio State is hot right now.
I do agree this tournament is WIDE open no dominant team like Kentucky was last year. Would not surprise me to see VCU or Gonzaga (#1 seed of course) get to the final four.

Best draw possible for UAlbanys program. They'll draw plenty of PR playing the Cowboys/Yankees of the NCAA basketball scene.
They don't have any chance to win, but the whole country will hear about them! And that's all you can ask for as a #15 seed.

Bad for productivity, good for the downtown scene!

I'm torn on the mid vs mid thing. On the one hand it guarantees one will lose. On the other it guarantees one will win and move on. Hmmmm.

Another tidbit about Albany--with their invite and our meltdown, ALbany now has a better ratio of tourney appearances than Siena -- 1 out of 4 Division 1 seasons compared to 1 out of 6 for Siena. Of course, our appearances have more quality to date-- but that could change depending upon how conference realignment shakes out.

Only the Duke fans root for Duke. All the other fans in the building root for Albany.. Same thing as when they played UConn. Fans won't be the problem.

Iona would have had a better chance if they were playing Duke. I can't see either one advancing.
Nice tidbit by gorvy on tourney appearences. I'm sure there are a ton of teams with a better % than Siena. I'm not knocking anyone, just saying.....

I'm not knocking anyone, just saying..... but are you not factoring in wins at the time of appearances..................some might have higher percentage of appearances, but NOT in conjunction with winning while you get there...............take Iona for example, more appearances than Siena, but one iffy win vs. Holy Cross a hundred yrs ago, which by the way was vacated..........bottom line, when Siena punches a ticket to the dance or even the NIT, they WIN games consistently, that speaks MORE VOLUME!!!!!!!!!

Tournament wins are very important, but you can't get a tournament win if you aren't there.

Tournament wins are very important, but you can't get a tournament win if you aren't there. true, but then again............if you are in a mediocre small conf to begin with, it makes your chances better..............remember when Winthrop went 6 of 8yrs in the Big South, I believe they only one 1 game...........once you start piling up appearances, it means squat unless you get wins............that kills your percentage parlay!!!!!!!!!!
