www.goffrugbyreport.com/news/d1-mens-college-rankings-week-7After beating Cartland 20-0, Siena finally gores from y ranked to 44th overall. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but Siena turned out to be anything but “iffy” since they’re in the Playoffs today. Go Saints!!! We have six teams come into the rankings, with the Heart of America teams getting in there. Siena? We're a bit iffy about Siena. They are playing in Liberty's D1AA schedule but in NCR's D1 playoffs. But really we don't have enough comparison to say where they should be. The playoffs will tell us. But we have the idea they are good enough to be in this 50 ... just where is the question. Edit: move this post out of the UA/Siena Rugby thread and into this one.

www.goffrugbyreport.com/news/diaa-playoff-speculations-and-situationsOk, now I’m confused. Siena goes 6-0, gets ranked but I’m not following this: “Liberty has completed their regular season and we’ve got semifinals coming up. With Siena having been bumped up to the super diamond-encrusted D1, the semis are going to bring Boston College vs UMass and Binghamton vs Stony Brook.” Is Siena in these playoffs or not? #4 Liberty Winner (BC, Binghamton, UMass, or Stony Brook). #10 Liberty Runner-Up

Are there any rugby experts out there who can shed some light on how these playoffs and/or ranking work?
Is Siena in these Liberty playoffs or not and is there any internet resources that provide more information?

Boston College beat UMass 27-7 on October 8. We will probably see two Liberty teams enter the NCR playoffs.” #4 Liberty Winner (BC, Binghamton, UMass, or Stony Brook). #10 Liberty Runner-Up Is Siena in these playoffs or not or does this mean Siena has advanced directly into the Regionals or NCR semi’s?

Siena’s schedule lists that they’re playing today but per this link there’s four Liberty league D1AA teams playing in Siena’s conference but not Siena. 11/5 UMass vs Boston College Liberty D1AA SFs 11/5 Stony Brook vs Binghamton Liberty D1AA SFs I wonder if (based on the other linked article above) that Siena got a bye or something. Just odd that I can’t find anything about Siena’s next game or if they’re actually in the playoffs. www.goffrugbyreport.com/news/opening-rivalry-and-culmination-coming-d1-college-games

That’s on of the links I posted above. But yesterday’s playoffs only showed games for: 11/5 UMass vs Boston College Liberty D1AA SFs 11/5 Stony Brook vs Binghamton Liberty D1AA SFs So my question is, why does Siena’s website link show Siena plays Sat 11/5 when per the goffrugbyreport doesn’t list them as playing. There was mention that Siena made some Super Diamond D1thing; was that reference to a bye? “ With Siena having been bumped up to the super diamond-encrusted D1, the semis are going to bring Boston College vs UMass and Binghamton vs Stony Brook.” Or, does it mean Siena moves up in D1 level from D1AA to D1 but isn’t allowed to play in the D1 higher conference tournament since they played D1AA all season??! All I know is I’m confused and it’s hard to find anything on it. www.goffrugbyreport.com/news/diaa-playoff-speculations-and-situationsI guess we’ll find out next week or as the the Goff report is updated. It’d be nice if the Siena schedule could be updated with actual results and news write ups but maybe someone from the rugby team (student managers if there are any) would need to provide that type of info to those who update the website.

Any Rugby experts out there who could chime in and explain what’s happening to us non-Rugby people?

From Siena Alumni e-mail today:
Men's Season
The men’s final league game saw the team pick up a 42-17 win at Binghamton (complete scores below). This completes a 5-0 regular season at D1AA.The men will move on to a buy-in game for a play in the NCR D1 quarterfinal on November 12 against a Big River Conference team likely to be either Adrian College or Wheeling University. If successful in the buy-in game, the men will then travel to Penn State University where the national quarterfinals will be held and most likely play St. Bonaventure on November 19. The semifinal will also be held at Penn State on December 3 before the final which is to be held in Houston on December 10. Regular Season Results - UAlbany 89-0 W - Brockport 139-0 W - Oswego 90-8 W - Cortland 28-0 W (Cortland forfeit) - Stony Brook 51-14 W - Binghamton 42-17 W

I was hoping I was reading that geoffreport correctly. It sort of implied Saints we’re moving on (bye) but since I wasn’t sure I was nervous when I could find any info about their next game/opponent. Hey, I’m rooting for two national championships in a row in two different conferences/leagues. Why not? 🙂 I’ll be happy wherever they finish. Question: if they happen to win the championship again, would/should they move up in competition again? I say yes but I don’t know how more competitive the Regular D1A Liberty league is. But it’ll show where they stand and maybe what they’ll need to do to continue competing at the higher level. Is Bona at the same level? I assumed incorrectly they were one level higher, or is that not the case?
