I usually don’t get these things correct, but something told me it’s be kid last year. I assumed it’d me health reasons and not the college replacing him type of thing. Based on Boeheim's presser and the statement by the school, I definitely think it's the college replacing him. That was just weird. He’s kind of weird if you think about it. He says something like it’s always been up to the college (colleges decision) to retire him. That sounds like a person who’s out of touch with reality or doesn’t know when to stop. I think most people know when it’s time to retire or when they’re no longer effective at doing the job and they can retire.

Since joining the ACC, Syracuse has been mediocre in Conference play. It was time to step down, but he chose to be "replaced" in lieu of stepping down. Either way, it was time to call it a career and it was a HOF career, so there is that. It is a sad end. I remember him and Dave Bing playing against Niagara in the Gallagher Center. It was a blow out and not in Niagara's favor.
