Jon Rothstein, whose sources in the northeast are pretty good, has said that the A-10 wants Mason and Siena -- with Davidson, Charleston and Iona waiting in the wings.
A10 attendance is so- so in Brooklyn I imagine Siena would fix that is a hurry
Some talk Siena could be in as soon as next season

Siena fans better be much more patient with results if thats the case...will take some time, even with a great head coach the turnaround to success will not be as quick as it would be in the MAAC. With all the departures I expect VCU to dominate and be the head of that conference for as long as Shake Smart is there...probably top 10 coach in the country right now...they are starting to get some high level prospects too

While I agree VCU will be tough, its more than VCU—ST Joes is usually good, as we saw this year Giannini has LaSalle cooking. Richmond is almost always good. Hewitt can get Mason going. Bonnies are no pushover. Umass is good… URI coming on

Tony, where did you see Rothstein report this? At a salad bar - which is why you didn't see it.

Even if constructed as many expect after all the realignment, the A-10 will still be a top 10 league. It'll still be a murder's row with only Fordham and Duquesne considered weak teams. Four of the teams expected to remain are currently in the top 100 RPI, with another two in the top 150. Siena will have its work cut out for it and would be happy to be mid-pack the first couple of years. Add Siena and mason to the mix and that's a nice looking league. An equal mix of small private schools and big state schools that make geographic sense.

You know what school I am suprised is not getting more chatter in a conference like the A10 and maybe it just doesn't meet it profile is Stony Brook...growing athletic department, brand new arena, weight room facility and a very good all around sport programs...basketball team hasn't made the tournament, but they are right there and they are in a good locale

I don't think any schools with major football or the potential to be major will be considered. Stony Brook and UAlbany are probably going to the CAA in all sports. boards.caazone.com/showthread.php?125356-The-moment-of-truth-is-fast-approaching/page4Check this link out. You guys are getting an invite. It's you and Siena.
I know Siena is about 90% done. I have no idea what your admin is thinking, but we are pushing for you guys at VCU.

Fantastic news. NOW, somehow, regardless of how much $$$ they may be spending for the move ... NOW is the time to find a way to PAY the absolute best coach/recruiter they can get to Loudonville!!!
If they do this one thing (in addition to moving to the A-10) the rest of the money needed to make the long-term strategic plan a reality will follow without any trouble.

It looks like Butler, Xavier and Creighton will be joining the Catholic-7 and will be announced next week. Dayton and St. Louis will remain in the A10 for now. It's not out of the realm of possibilities that they stay for a while since it looks like the Big East will start off at 10. That won't affect the A10 sending out the two invites to George Mason and Siena though to go to 14 teams to start in 2014-2015.
An A10 with St. Louis and Dayton would be even tougher (especially with travel) but still a league that makes sense. Geographically it's still friendly to Siena for the most part.
If all goes right we could be getting the invite next week!
