UA Athletic Director also in trouble as he knew about this situation since it happened. He assaulted a walk on.. Stay tuned this is ugly and getting worse He can use the George Castanza defense and just ask, "Was that wrong?"

Killings will keep his job. How does he recruit after that incident? It appears that is an unconfirmed report from Wyland, although I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be the case. I also wouldn't be surprised if the AD does not survive this. This STILL needs to play out.

$25k fine and 5 game suspension.
Confirmed the incident did occur and he hit the player but an isolated incident so he gets to keep his job.
Wonder why that is.

First straw on camel’s back … amount of time it took to investigate was to ensure this was an “isolated” incident … Jimmy P kept adding to his baggage until the “last straw” appeared with the Unabomber incident at practice

Certainly pressure from the local Black community helped Killings but his being a public employee, with a due process disciplinary process ending in binding arbitration before a neutral arbitrator on a joint NYS/UUP panel may have been even more meaningful. Getting a termination on a "first strike" ( no pun intended) is awfully tough and the process is slow and expensive. Many proposed termination cases get settled. Killings saved his job but took a big hit to do so.

Hitting a player has always been automatic dismissal. No meetings, no self-appointed "local leaders" holding press conferences. Since most people feel like that press conference saved his job (and I agree it probably did), its safe to say if he were white, he'd have been fired. We all know that "group" doesnt get together if Will Brown is facing this accusation.

My thought is that unlike professors the coach has a separate contract which governs his conditions of employment and separation for cause and the ability to negotiate a disciplinary settlement on his own and not through a union.

Seemed like this was blown out of proportion. If this took place before a game in a hype circle there would have been some recording of it. Bring race into this is what's wrong with society these days. It's 2022 not 1962.

Hankla, pretty sure someone at the presser mentioned the UUP contract but you may be right. I know of your experience in such matters.

Bring race into this is what's wrong with society these days. It's 2022 not 1962. No it's not 1962 and I'm happy that this young man is being kept in his position. He certainly seems to be a sharp and intelligent coach. I'm glad that individuals did step up to put pressure on the school to keep him. With that said, if you don't think that race was a major factor in on how he got his job back, you must be living with your head in the sand. I hope he has a lot of success, just not against our Saints.
