If it is in the "Cards" I want Pitino. After that I would like Warren then Hurley. What do you see in Warren? Can't say he sticks out to me.

Darg has always loved Cliff and wanted him 3 years ago. Let's hope others have a say as Cliff has not done enough for my taste and I want someone who can recruit Philly north and east into the NE prep schools.

Having said that Jacksonville has only been to the NCAAs once since 1979, and that was in 1986, a game they lost. When Warren took over in 2005-2006, the Dolphins were a complete mess. That losing record you see? 26 of those losses were in the first year. By necessity he has had to schedule guarantee games against top 25 teams the likes of Florida, Florida State, and Miami, all at their place, of course. There were some wins along the way against these teams but about 25 more losses were from these games (I listed them in more detail in another thread). Take away those games and he is a .600 coach. In his second season his team had the biggest turnaround in the country. By 2008 his team had reached the final of the Atlantic Sun tournament, running into a tough Belmont team, the one that nearly beat Duke. I believe that had he won that game he would not be still coaching at Jacksonville. He has had a few NIT runs, and a CIT win. He has two regular season titles, been named coach of the year in conference, beat East Carolina in the CIT, beat Arizona State in the NIT plus played in additional NIT game. He is known as a great recruiter and has strong east coast ties. His teams play an uptempo brand of ball--- even in a down year this year's team was in the top half of the NCAA in scoring-- at one point he had three 1,000 point scorers on the same team-- sound familiar? He is familiar--- which is good because we don't need a head case right now -- he is able to get players "within the rules" which I find important. With the resources we have combined with Warren's talents, I think he would be a great fit to move Siena forward to Atlantic 10 play. That is, unless we get Pitino lol.

I really hope D'Argenio has the sense to look past Warren. I do not believe Warren has a 500 record after 8 seasons at Jacksonville! And Warren accomplished this while coaching in one of the worst conferences in the country.

I like Cliff Warren but if we're going to the A10 we are going to need better. Paulsen, Pitino Jr, Toole or Patsos or maybe a surprise wildcard entry.

What's the general thoughts on Becker from VT? Is he somebody that can lead this team. Seems like he's done a good job there - would think he could move up with a win?

Warren , at best, is a mediocre coach in one of the worst conferences in the country. Hiring him would be a big mistake but since I've read that D'Argenio likes him and feels "comfortable" with him I suppose it wouldn't be a surprise. Hopefully the "Advisory committee" will steer him in the right direction.

When Siena hires Will Brown, we'll have a coach with a recent NCAA appearance. Do you think Brown will call for the Albany Cup site to alternate between the TUC and SEFCU? That's sarcasm, folks.

I'll throw the name Bill Carmody.
Got fired from Northwestern- knows how to coach.
Record doesn't prove it- but remember, he coached a Northwestern squad that was usually ridden with injuries and had less superior facilities than other Big Ten schools.
He got the Northwestern team ranked for the first time since 1969 in 2009.
He has lead the team to NIT several times, but I feel at right level, he would be successful leading the Saints several times to the NCAAs.
He's familiar with this area- got his bachelors from Union College.
He is a clear number one candidate for this job in my opinion.

If Pitino is interested and wants the job, recruiting should be a lock to skyrocket. Look who he got to sign with FIU. Now Siena's standards will be different, but I don't know that his FIU recruits don't fit the Siena profile and the Pitino name will open a lot of doors to kids who can fit with Siena. So if he interviews I would think he would be hard to beat out for th job.
