Those stats need context because we don't know what his role was on the FIBA U18 team. For Anadolu Efes he was an alpha male averaging 17 ppg. Seems you spun this yarn before …. See all things Darwiche. Fact of the matter this kid would have been available in the summer, no need to take him this early. Bad move! I'm not spinning anything. Facts aren't spin. His stats on each team are what they are. Feel to interpret them as you see fit.

Fact this kid could have been signed at the 13 spot in July, totally unnecessary at this time!

Ho Hum. Underwhelming Stats. Those stats need context because we don't know what his role was on the FIBA U18 team. For Anadolu Efes he was an alpha male averaging 17 ppg. I'm gonna need a source on those stats because I've found nothing along those lines

I just can't find those numbers literally anywhere, and realGM only has his numbers from 20-21. FIBA has him as 5/2/1 in 18 minutes average over 5 games in the U18. I know foreign stats are difficult to find but... Literally nothing I've seen tells me he's ever averaged anything like those numbers, outside of this article.

You could always email Michael Kelly and ask him where he got those numbers. As a professional journalist, I imagine he has much better access to obscure info than we do.

The numbers quoted can be found below, as to level of comp I couldn’t tell you….. again the point being this kid wasn’t going anywhere & could have been picked up in July. With the portal loading up this wasn’t a particularly smart move. I’d gamble on the kid if all NEEDS were addressed with the best available. Not sure this kid meets that criteria. www.eurobasket.com/Turkey/basketball.aspx

I found it in 10 seconds. Fact. If you use the "google machine" it's not that hard. basketball.eurobasket.com/team/Turkey/Anadolu-Efes-Istanbul-U19-team/33183?Page=3't We don't know how those stats relate to US high school or prep school competition, but I would guess the staff has some idea. The fact remains we also don't know if he had any other "offers" or options either here or Europe. I'm guessing he would have been available later, but who really knows. It may be a "quality" get or a bust. As an optimist/hopeful type I'll hope for a plus side get.

I’m hoping there’s “something” the staff saw in him that’s not in the stats that would warrant an early offering/ship that we fans aren’t seeing. Something that as time went on he’d be getting higher offers. That diamond in the rough that by So or Jr year we’re glad he chose Siena. At least that’s what I’m hoping for.
Otherwise the naysayers were right and my optimism is diminished. 🙂

He's the best player on his team, but to the point made more than once here, we have no idea the level of competition compares to the American game. Why they would pursue a foreign player with so much American talent to be had, I have no idea. But haven't several D1 teams thrived on foreign talent? I think St Mary's had an Australian pipeline. Not sure if that's still their thing.

If he is playing for the under 19 team and staring for that team it would mean he is the best in Turkey in that age group and may eventually play with guys like those on the "Parent" team as he matures. Just an optimistic thought. ;-)
