Monmouth just took down Cincinnati, MAAC could wind up with two top 100 teams this year.

Rough day for maac 0-5. Just looked up useless Pomeroy numbers and they aren't pretty. Best is Iona at 122 worst is Siena at 308 next lowest is 261 Marist. Long way to go.

MAAC up to 20th in the Sagarin, would be difficult to get much higher this season but best in a long time. West Coast Conference is #7 yet some on here think Iona becoming the next Gonzaga would be a bad thing. I would love to be in the 7th best conference even if there was one dominant team.

Nobody will ever be Gonzaga. I even feel silly for saying it when Fran was here. Of course Gonzaga wasn't even on the level they are on now. A Loyola of Chicago would make more sense.

Just be the best team in your conference whatever the ranking is. If that happens we should all be happy and be in the NCAA or NIT every 4 or 5 years.

It is still possible for another Gonzaga to emerge as long as the NCAA Tournament stays as is. There is a huge selling point for recruits if you can guarantee an NCAA berth every season. The only other teams like that right now are Kansas and Michigan State and both will miss it in years to come when they have a down year just like Duke, Kentucky, UNC, etc have. Obviously takes a ton of luck, a commitment to excellence, and a coach that is willing to stick around but it isn't impossible as long as the auto bids exist. Remove the auto bids and I would agree, no way anything close to Gonzaga could happen again.

Auto bids should go to regular season conference champions and do away with post-season tournaments, we'd see a lot more 'mini' dynasties and virtually every MM conference would be able to establish its own Gonzaga.
NCAA didn't even give Davidson with Steph Curry an at-large bid, that's the problem

There are 6 MAAC teams playing non-conference games tonight, and not a peep about any of them on the MAAC board. It seems that unless Siena or Iona are playing, nobody really cares...

There might be 40 active posters on the MAAC board and 35 of them are Siena/Iona fans! lol Colin Golson is playing against Niagara tonight. I think Im going to watch Holy Cross/Fairfield.

Maac board is seeing more posts than this board lately. When Siena is good both boards see more action everybody loves a winner.
