I wasn’t clear. I didn’t mean 1 scholarship displaces 10 full pay but that there are plenty of qualified applicants who would pay full price to fill that slot, hence the potential lost revenue. Right, but still 1:1. It's ONE spot POTENTIALLY being taken. But as has been said here, I don't think Siena has a limit/quota, so theoretically, not really taking away from a paying student who wants to attend. I believe every school has a limit to the number enrolled, especially during a fiscal crunch. You have to believe Siena would enroll as many as they could to maximize revenue. I doubt potential slots were left vacant this year. That would make no sense given the fiscal situation.

I just informed my wife that KY was not going to be playing for the Saints this year. She asked why. I said he had lost his passion for playing basketball. Her immediate response, "he wasn't that good anyway". Enough Said!

And very few kids are paying the full ride themselves. There is a tremendous amount of financial aid... so while Siena may have a sticker price for education, only a handful are actually paying the full ride.

I would think maybe that they could juggle and work around that by limiting their on-campus and adding more commuters or work with local apartments (but no transportation), etc. As long as they could handle the classroom load. But that's also got to be tricky - not too many in one area: business vs science vs humanities. Speaking of apartment living, who remembers Lakeshore?

This is third year in a row that Siena has had their largest freshman class … obviously admissions miscalculated acceptance rate … Happened at Marist a number of years ago & they sent 100 incoming freshman to their campus in Italy - only met the rest of their class second semester … in any event Kyle being on campus probably only impacts the dining hall food bill.

So you buy the marketing pitch where everyone gets 57k in aid. I’m sure the aid is offered but the net is the “full pay” needed to balance the books. It’s like buy one get one but the price/unit is practically doubled to allow for a net profit. There is no free lunch.

They offered my kid an extra $8k and I said “how about a full ride”. Waiting to hear back. Lol

I’m taking that info to mean since Siena is providing him a scholarship this year w/o playing ball that if he decides to play next year at Siena he’d have to pay his own way. I’m not taking it was he’s not welcomed back. All this is probably moot until Kyle decides what he wants to do next year.

Idk this appears pretty cut & dry to me … "If he wants to stay at Siena, he'll be off scholarship after this season," Maciariello said last month.

I don’t disagree that he won’t be on scholarship next season (should he decide to play for Siena). I was just saying that it’s unclear if he’ll be back on the team or not. I maybe misunderstood what you meant by “… tell’s you everything you need to know.” I thought you were implying that maybe Carm doesn’t want him back next year. Maybe you can clarify what you meant because it was already obvious he’s getting a ship this year but won’t next year if he chooses to play for Siena.

Basketball isn’t an option for him at Siena moving forward. Just my opinion based on Carm’s comment.
