First, a note of appreciation to the General and Tom Huerter (and Andy G.) for the exceptional job they do announcing Siena games. We are very fortunate, as they are truly top flight professionals in a mid-major market. Although hired by Siena, they provide a very knowledgeable and unbiased reporting of the teams and action. The call in shows are also handled very well. Secondly, anyone else notice a marked shift in their (especially Tom's) forthrightenss and candor in the last few games? Their displeasure with the coaching, sloppy play and lack of progess was quite apparent, but it was handled in a very classy and professional way. Their candor and vocalization of the obvious was very appreciated. My wife is concerned that the comments were so honest and "right on" that she thinks Tom has decided not to return next year - we cerrtainly hope that is not the case! Many thanks to the General, Tom, Andy, Chris..., as well as the Siena Admin, for having this exceptional announcer team!

Yes I noticed the difference- and it upset a small minority of listeners. But hey let’s face it, it had to be brutal the last 3 years and especially this year announcing Siena basketball. Some of these moves by Mitch , very hard to put a “positive” spin on it. For the most part I thought announcing crew General Tommy and Gras did an excellent job under very difficult circumstance’s. I hope all 3 are back next year . I thought the announcing this weekend was 'refreshing" and honest

I too applaud the radio staff for the job that they have done under the season of "circumstances". For Tom and Andy, especially, I know it was difficult to watch a program that is a part of your history go into an abyss.

I think they handled it very well... Tom and the General really do a solid job. There's only so much they can say but Tom was throwing the daggers on Friday and Saturday. I say GOOD for him.. he is a voice that the fans respect and in a way speaks for the fanbase.
They didn't address it (coaching staff) at the end of the broadcast (like I think they did with Lanier in 2005) but it was obvious their feelings albeit handled in a professional way.

I found the broadcasts amusing and honest. They work well together. Robert likes to joke they are "top ten" in the maac". They have improved so much that I dare say they are tops in the league for fan value and likely top 100 in the country. My only hope is that mark Thomas rewrites his script in the offseason.

Maybe Tommy got the word that Mitch is officially out a few weeks ago? The radio guys can be fired if the head coach doesn't like them. Mitch obviously doens't have that type of power, and right now he's just a guy waiting for the axe to fall.
Tommy is treating Mitch like the substitute teacher right now. No repercussions for being 100% honest because Mitch has lost any power to decide on Tommys job.

Huerter was a great player for us. I feel he has great insight and refreshing candor. He has a very enjoyable way of delivering his basketball knowledge and insight to his audience. If given a chance or his personal life permitted, I could see him successful at a higher level in broadcasting. I think he definitely has style and class.

Siena fans are treated quite well by Tom and Robert. They're lucky. Just listen to 980 for a comparison.

Tom coaches his boys in the summer. Both Tom Junior and Kevin are Shen varsity players. It will be interesting to see what he does after they graduate. Tom Junior is a soph, Kevin is a freshman.
